About The Position

The EHSS Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that all capital project activities are executed in compliance with environmental, health, safety, and sustainability (EHSS) policies, local regulations, and company standards within a regulated pharmaceutical environment. This role supports safe project execution by developing site-specific safety plans, conducting risk assessments, monitoring compliance, and promoting a strong safety culture across contractors and project teams.

Requirements

  • Relevant technical diploma or degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or related discipline.
  • Minimum one (1) year of Safety & Environmental policies experience in the regulated industry.
  • Certification in occupational safety, environmental health, or related safety discipline (e.g., OSHA, NEBOSH, CSP or equivalent).
  • Experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or industrial construction environments.
  • Strong knowledge of EHSS regulations, risk assessment methodologies, and safe work practices.
  • Experience managing permits to work and field safety compliance activities.
  • Ability to conduct incident investigations and support corrective action implementation.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills in a field execution environment.
  • Bilingual (Spanish and English).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting capital projects in GMP-regulated manufacturing facilities.
  • Familiarity with pharmaceutical construction, commissioning, or facility expansion projects.
  • Knowledge of environmental compliance requirements, including waste management and permitting systems.
  • Experience working with contractors in high-risk construction or industrial environments.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all project activities comply with EHSS policies, local regulations, and company requirements.
  • Develop and implement site-specific EHSS plans for capital project execution.
  • Conduct toolbox talks, safety briefings, hazard assessments, and field safety observations.
  • Perform site inspections to identify risks, unsafe conditions, and improvement opportunities in coordination with project leadership.
  • Manage permits to work and ensure proper authorization and compliance for field activities.
  • Investigate incidents, near misses, and safety deviations; support root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Track and report EHSS performance metrics, ensuring visibility of safety trends and compliance status.
  • Ensure environmental compliance, including waste management and permitting requirements where applicable.
  • Support contractors and project teams in adhering to safe work practices and regulatory expectations.
