About The Position

This is a strategic role that requires passion & excitement for continuous improvement in both areas of Health, Safety and Environmental Engineering (HSE). Reporting to the Sr Facilities Manager the HSE Engineer for the Americas region will be responsible for developing, facilitating, training & implementing HSE programs and policies. You will be required to spend time in all areas of the Plant & Warehouse to provide a continually evolving Health -Safety strategy while ensuring management and employees understand the programs and how to implement. Maintain a working knowledge of agency requirements and maintain federal, state and local relationships with appropriate regulatory agencies. Develop & maintain a high level of professional competence in the health- Safety field.

Requirements

  • Bachelor degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Environmental Science.
  • 3+ years or more Industrial Manufacturing Experience.
  • 3+ years’ experience in Environmental Compliance or Industrial Safety or Engineering in Industrial Manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of Safety - Understand, administer, facilitate, and enforce OSHA, FDA, EPA, MSD and other federal, state, and local standards.
  • Knowledge of RCRA Hazardous Waste regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure completion and accuracy of all required documentation and submittal for governing agencies including but not limited to Federal, State, and local Environmental compliance.
  • Manage the approval and disposal of all Hazardous Waste and compliance to all Federal and State laws.
  • Conduct outside audits of 3rd party warehouses.
  • Facilitate in presenting basic employee training in Environmental/Safety items and a database for tracking attendance.
  • Conduct, participate in, analyze, and provide recommendations from Environmental/Safety audits.
  • Participates in the investigation of minor incidents and supports the investigation of major incidents.
  • Suggests solutions and improvements to issues/challenges.
  • Conduct inspections/audits at the wastewater facilities: Conduct, analyze, enter into the data system, communicate.
  • Monitor results of output.
  • Focus on communication, Data/ Trend analysis, and continued improvement to attain goals.
  • Ensure Environmental goals are achieved on every project.
  • Oversee Kao USA wastewater practices and control systems.
  • Ensure result meet goals established and provide planning strategy for short- and long-term success, compliance, and goal attainments.
  • Maintain ISO Certification Administration Certification and its requirements.
  • Provide ongoing support for the Plant Management team, Americas Facilities Organization, and Quality Assurance team.
  • Data management for responsible care (utilities, logistics, and waste).
  • Report data within Kao USA and Japan groups.
  • Support responsible care initiatives in the pursuit of improved ESG performance.
  • Management of third-party relationships with respect to Safety and Environmental Management of multiple areas of compliance documentation.
  • Management of process to ensure Wastewater and Air results are within limits.
  • Understand, administer, facilitate, and enforce OSHA, FDA, EPA, MSD, and other federal, state, and local standards.
  • Develop & maintain a high level of professional competence in the health- Safety field.
  • When necessary, represent the organization in HSE interests outside their operations within the community and by active participation in professional societies & specific trade associations & groups.
