About The Position

Comply is seeking a Sr. Engineering Manager to lead and grow a high-performing software engineering team delivering reliable, scalable software for compliance programs serving financial services clients worldwide. The manager owns the team’s people leadership and technical direction and partners with product, QA, and business stakeholders to deliver an ambitious roadmap. The role reports to the Senior Director of Software Engineering and leads engineers based in India. Cross-time-zone collaboration is part of the role, balanced by the company’s commitment to sustainable, predictable working hours for managers. The position is suited to a leader energized by developing engineers, working in a fast-moving product environment, and shaping the architecture of a cloud-native SaaS platform at scale. Success during the first 90 days includes building relationships with the team and cross-functional partners; understanding team health, delivery velocity, and roadmap priorities; confidently running sprints and conducting substantive one-on-ones; identifying and beginning to address a process, quality, or team-structure gap; shipping a meaningful technical milestone; improving team process or tooling; and starting a six-month team development plan.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of engineering leadership experience, including direct people management, coaching, performance management, and team development.
  • Deep full-stack development background, particularly in C# and .NET.
  • Ability to lead through ambiguity, set clear goals, drive accountability, and develop a long-term technical roadmap without waiting for perfect information.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to translate between technical and non-technical audiences and participate in strategic discussions with senior leadership.
  • Experience building and deploying scaled platforms and applications in cloud environments.
  • Proficiency with modern engineering practices, including CI/CD pipelines, agile methodologies, and version control systems such as Bitbucket.
  • Familiarity with relational and NoSQL databases, including SQL Server, MySQL, Postgres, and Elasticsearch.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Authorization to work for any employer in the United States; the company is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in financial services or another regulated industry.
  • AWS, Azure, or GCP cloud certification; AWS is preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Redis, or Jenkins.
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor.ai, or AWS Bedrock.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a cross-functional engineering team, including QA and offshore engineers in India.
  • Own the software development lifecycle, from sprint planning and code review through deployment and production reliability.
  • Establish coding standards, conduct meaningful code reviews, and ensure work is secure, scalable, and aligned with architectural best practices.
  • Partner with product and business stakeholders to define and prioritize delivery, connecting sprint work to customer value and product strategy.
  • Build a team culture of ownership, inclusion, continuous learning, and craftsmanship.
  • Coach and develop engineers at all levels, conduct meaningful one-on-ones, manage performance, and partner with recruiting to hire strategic talent.
  • Drive the technical roadmap by balancing near-term delivery with long-term platform health, innovation, and technical-debt reduction.
  • Promote CI/CD pipelines, agile methodologies, Bitbucket version control, and AI-assisted development tools.
  • Collaborate across business units, provide engineering perspective on product and commercial decisions, and contribute to the broader direction of Comply’s software platform.
