About The Position

The Product & Engineering Manager is responsible for leading product portfolio strategy, engineering execution, and new product development initiatives to drive profitable growth, operational efficiency, and product innovation across the organization. This role combines strategic product management with technical engineering leadership, overseeing the full product lifecycle from market analysis and portfolio prioritization through engineering execution, value engineering, and commercialization. The position partners cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, Operations, Supply Chain, Quality, and Finance to ensure products meet customer needs while optimizing cost, manufacturability, and profitability. The Product & Engineering Manager will lead a small team while driving accountability, continuous improvement, and execution across both product management and engineering functions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Marketing, or related field required (MBA preferred).
  • 10+ years of experience in product management, engineering, portfolio management, or related leadership roles within manufacturing or industrial products
  • Proficiency with CAD systems (3D CAD preferred) and ERP/MRP systems (MAPICS a plus)

Nice To Haves

  • Prior leadership experience managing teams preferred
  • Knowledge of FM Global and NFPA standards is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Own product portfolio strategy to drive profitable growth, operational efficiency, and long-term value
  • Prioritize investments and lifecycle decisions using ROI, market data, and strategic alignment
  • Translate business strategy into execution, aligning product, engineering, and commercial plans
  • Leverage market, customer, and competitive insights to identify growth opportunities and shape product positioning
  • Lead full product lifecycle from concept through commercialization and post-launch optimization
  • Drive engineering execution across development, cost optimization, manufacturability, and compliance
  • Oversee design reviews, specifications, engineering documentation and compliance activities
  • Lead VA/VE and continuous improvement efforts to reduce cost, optimize design, improve performance, and standardization
  • Own pricing and profitability, partnering with Finance, Sales, and Operations to optimize margin performance and support cost trends
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to align on product strategy, improve efficiency, and support customer needs
  • Lead and develop teams, ensuring clear priorities, accountability, and strong communication to leadership
