About The Position

Nationwide's Technology team is seeking a highly motivated and skilled developer for a team of software engineers to support the Retirement Solutions Line of Business. In this role, the ideal candidate will have experience working in modern web technologies, APIs, and Java, along with being well-versed in cloud-native platforms and secure coding practices. Effective communication and collaboration within the team, across teams, and departments is critical. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will focus primarily on providing high-quality, efficient technology solutions to business partners by crafting new software applications or modifying and/or supporting existing packaged or custom-built applications. In this capacity, you’ll analyze, code, configure, test, debug, document, and maintain applications. Nationwide is an equal opportunity employer. Requirements

  • Proficient in Java, Typescript, Angular, RESTful API, and Apigee
  • Experienced in the use of AI tools like Github Copilot
  • Experienced in using Github Version Control
  • Experienced in SQL
  • Experienced in Kubernetes - Rancher
  • Experienced in Cloud Native Platform
  • Experienced working in an Agile team
  • Strong in communication and people skills
  • Passionate to learn and keep up with technology trends
  • Undergraduate studies in computer science, management information systems, or other related degree. Technology experience or non-traditional technology certificates can be substituted for an undergraduate degree.
  • Two or more years of analysis and technology experience.
  • Proficiency in one or more programming language such as Java, C++, Python, JavaScript.
  • Knowledge of software development lifecycle.
  • Proven ability to tackle moderately sophisticated business and development problems.
  • Ability to thrive in a team environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Insurance/financial services industry knowledge a plus.

  • Participating in the delivery of quality solutions

  • Uses DevSecOps practices, tooling and techniques.

  • Manages project priorities, deadlines and deliverables proactively.
