About The Position

Primary Function of Position: The Ion endoluminal system is Intuitive's robotic platform for minimally invasive biopsy in the peripheral lung, with an initial goal of improving the early diagnosis of lung cancer. Our Product Engineering (PE) team focuses on maintaining and improving Ion™ product. In this role, the Senior Electrical Engineer will work with and lead multi-disciplinary teams to maintain and improve the design, production, and service of the Ion™ Robotic Bronchoscopy System. This role is an exciting opportunity to join a rapidly growing new business within Intuitive and make a meaningful contribution to its future growth

Requirements

  • Capacity to lead multiple projects in parallel.
  • Independently prioritizes activities across projects, ensuring high quality and delivery.
  • Self-driven desire to excel in a high-energy, small, focused team environment.
  • Technical expertise with electrical design.
  • Experience in designing, developing, modifying and evaluating electronic parts, components and PC boards, including hands-on board layout, bring-up, and debug using electronic design tools (such as Orcad, Allegro, SPICE, etc.).
  • Proficiency at failure analysis and troubleshooting electrical issues of all sorts at the system-level as well as PCA/harness-levels using equipment like oscilloscopes, multimeters, function generators, custom test platforms, spectrum analyzer, etc.
  • Ownership and experience of the full product development lifecycle, from project initiation to continuous improvement, including concept development, design, implementation, debug, verification, qualification, and transfer to manufacturing as well as with the concepts of design input, design output, traceability, and risk analysis.
  • Experience in thinking at a systems level, interfacing between multiple design groups, and negotiating conflicting requirements.
  • Minimum of 8 years related experience with a University bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering; or 6 years related experience and a Master’s degree.

  • Familiarity with a broad range of electronic components and hardware, including analog, power, FPGAs, microcontrollers, memories, logic, signal conditioning, and communication interfaces.
  • Ability to communicate effectively (written, oral) across peers and management.
  • Experience in a regulated environment (FDA, Military, FAA or equivalent).
  • Comfortable with execution of design verification/validation test protocols, assessing risk (FMEA), providing inputs to regulatory agency approval including UL, CE and FDA is a plus.
