Sr Electrical Engineer

EnderaOttawa, OH
$125,000 - $150,000Onsite

About The Position

This is a foundational engineering role at Endera. As our Senior Electrical Engineer, you will serve as the lead electrical engineering authority today — owning the full lifecycle of electrical system design, documentation, and integration across our EV and hybrid commercial vehicle platforms. You will establish the engineering standards, tools, and processes that will define our electrical department as we grow. This role is expected to evolve into a department leadership position as the team expands.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience required
  • Minimum 5 years of electrical engineering experience, preferably in automotive, commercial vehicle, or mobile equipment applications
  • Demonstrated experience with 12V automotive/vehicle electrical systems required; high-voltage EV systems experience strongly preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of experience creating electrical schematics and wiring diagrams using CAD-based tools (Experience with Arcadia Cardonix or similar platform a plus)
  • Experience programming or modifying automotive vehicle control modules
  • Proven ability to develop and own engineering documentation — schematics, BOMs, work instructions, and process documentation
  • Strong working knowledge of electrical theory, circuit design, and vehicle electrical integration
  • Familiarity with chassis electrical systems from OEM manufacturers
  • Understanding of relevant standards and compliance requirements (SAE, FMVSS, or equivalent) preferred
  • Experience with multiplexed electrical systems or CAN bus architecture a plus
  • Self-directed and capable of operating as the sole technical authority in a fast-moving environment
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple vehicle programs and priorities simultaneously
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a root-cause mindset
  • Clear and effective communicator — able to translate technical requirements for production, service, and customer audiences
  • Collaborative team player who can work cross-functionally with manufacturing, supply chain, and customer care
  • Demonstrated ability to build processes and documentation from the ground up
  • Forward-thinking approach to team development and departmental scalability

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Arcadia Cardonix or similar platform a plus
  • High-voltage EV systems experience strongly preferred
  • Experience with multiplexed electrical systems or CAN bus architecture a plus

Responsibilities

  • Conceptualize, design, and engineer high-voltage (HV) and low-voltage (12V) electrical systems for commercial electric and hybrid bus platforms
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, harness designs (routing, connectors, protection, and packaging), and bill of materials (BOMs) for each vehicle configuration and work order
  • Research, program, and modify vehicle control modules for special use cases and platform integrations
  • Perform detailed electrical calculations to establish standards, specifications, and design criteria
  • Direct and oversee fabrication, installation, testing, and repair of electrical systems and components; own validation planning and execution including design verification test plans, test reports, and sign-off documentation
  • Integrate electrical systems across multiple chassis platforms, ensuring conformance to engineering design, safety, and customer specifications
  • Research and evaluate new technologies, components, and assembly methods to drive innovation and cost efficiency
  • Document and maintain electrical installation processes, methods, and engineering standards for use by production and service personnel
  • Research and analyze OEM chassis electrical systems to ensure proper module and harness integration
  • Provide technical support for warranty and field service; apply structured root-cause analysis (8D or equivalent) to close the loop between field failures and design or production corrections
  • Support supply chain management by identifying long-lead electrical components, providing accurate BOM data, and participating in supplier technical reviews and component qualification activities
  • Provide hands-on training to production and service on electrical systems, processes, and procedures
  • Participate in and lead product improvement and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Own and manage engineering changes (ECOs/ECNs) in active production — evaluate impact, coordinate cross-functional review and approval, and ensure schematics, BOMs, harnesses, and build documentation remain aligned through each revision
  • Design for serviceability — ensure schematics, connector identification, and diagnostic documentation are structured so field technicians can efficiently troubleshoot and repair without engineering escalation
  • Lay the groundwork for a scalable electrical engineering department, including process documentation, tool standardization, and future team development
  • Read and interpret vehicle sales orders; translate into complete schematic packages and accurate BOMs
  • Configure, program, and validate control modules for platform-specific use cases
  • Gather OEM technical data; specify integration of Endera systems into chassis electrical architecture
  • Evaluate components, materials, and assembly methods; benchmark against industry standards
  • Create and maintain electrical installation work instructions, engineering prints, and process documents
  • Identify long-lead parts from sales orders; communicate requirements to supply chain
  • Apply root cause analysis to resolve electrical issues in production and in-field vehicles
  • Deliver on-site and off-site electrical training to production staff, service technicians, and customers
  • Lead or support cross-functional product and process improvement projects
  • Own and drive ECOs/ECNs in active production; maintain alignment of schematics, BOMs, harnesses, and build docs through each revision
  • Structure schematics, connector callouts, and diagnostic documentation so field technicians can troubleshoot without engineering escalation
  • Establish tools, standards, and workflows that will scale with a growing engineering team
