The Sr. Electrical Engineer defines requirements, applies applicable codes and GM standards, reviews designs and technical risks, and guides safe, compliant, reliable, cost-effective, maintainable, resilient, and sustainable decisions across project delivery and facility operations. The role serves as GM’s electrical engineering subject matter expert for ICC planning, design, construction, and facility operations, providing independent technical leadership and decisions for major capital projects. The position leads risk-based engineering reviews, challenges designs and execution approaches, supports project delivery from front-end planning through final acceptance, and guides electrical concepts across utility services, distribution, protection, emergency power, lighting, controls, and life-safety systems. It evaluates lifecycle and facility options, develops standards and technical requirements, investigates existing systems, resolves construction and operating-facility issues, improves engineering practices, communicates risks and recommendations, and mentors project teams and less-experienced engineers. Other related duties may be assigned. This is a hybrid role. The selected candidate is expected to report to a specific location at least three times a week or at another frequency directed by their manager. Travel is typically up to approximately 25% within North America, with occasional additional travel as business needs require. The role is not eligible for relocation benefits. GM does not provide immigration-related sponsorship for this role.
