About The Position

Siemens is seeking a Sr Electrical Engineer to join the Medium Voltage (4.16–38 kV) Air Insulated Switchgear (AIS) Project Engineering team in Wendell, North Carolina. The role is hybrid, with flexibility between in-office and remote work, and relocation assistance is available. The Electrification and Automation Business Unit develops energy distribution systems and solutions, including medium-voltage power distribution equipment and services. The engineer will analyze customer requirements and develop detailed electrical designs for medium-voltage switchgear. The role creates complete electrical drawing packages using CAD tools and works with project engineering and manufacturing teams to deliver cost-effective solutions, meet customer expectations and resolve design and production challenges.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or a combination of education and experience.
At least 7 years of experience designing or configuring electrical power distribution products.

Nice To Haves

Master’s degree in Engineering, preferably with a focus on power systems.
Strong knowledge of medium-voltage protection and control systems.
Ability to interpret customer specifications, one-line diagrams, and electrical schematics.
Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical or Engineering Base.
Familiarity with ANSI, IEEE, UL, and NEMA standards for medium-voltage switchgear.
Experience with Siemens switchgear and/or projects supporting data center, semiconductor, utility, or industrial customers.

Responsibilities

Analyze customer requirements to develop detailed electrical designs for medium-voltage switchgear.
Create complete electrical drawing packages, including schematics, wiring, layouts, nameplates, one-lines, and communications, using CAD tools.
Partner with project engineers to deliver cost-effective, on-time solutions that meet customer expectations.
Collaborate with manufacturing teams to resolve design and production challenges.
