About The Position

The Senior Director of Specialty Services provides executive leadership, strategic direction, and operational oversight for Specialty Care service lines, including the Specialty Care Clinic, Optometry, and Audiology. This role is responsible for ensuring high-quality, patient-centered, and culturally responsive specialty services that align with organizational strategy, regulatory requirements, and integrated care models. The Senior Director oversees clinical operations, fiscal management, workforce planning, and performance outcomes while advancing access, quality, and sustainability of specialty services.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree and three (3) years of relevant experience, or Bachelor’s degree and five (5) years of progressively responsible relevant experience.
  • The experience required for supervisory/management positions will be inclusive of at least three (3) years of supervisory/management experience.
  • Progressive leadership experience in healthcare administration, specialty services, or clinical operations, including responsibility for multi department or multi service line oversight.
  • Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, operational management, and performance improvement within a healthcare or integrated care setting.
  • Experience managing budgets, monitoring financial performance, and supporting fiscally sustainable healthcare services.
  • Proven experience supervising directors, managers, or clinical leaders, including performance management and leadership development.
  • Experience working with regulatory and accreditation requirements such as CMS, HIPAA, and AAAHC standards.
  • Experience collaborating with executive leadership, interdisciplinary clinical teams, and external partners to advance service delivery goals.
  • Experience supporting culturally responsive healthcare delivery, preferably in Tribal, IHS, or community based health systems.

  • Master’s degree in healthcare administration, Public Health, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience working within Tribal, IHS, or Native serving health systems.
  • Experience overseeing or supporting specialty service lines such as specialty clinics, optometry, audiology, or other ancillary clinical services.
  • Experience leading service expansion, access improvement, or specialty care optimization initiatives.
  • Familiarity with Baldrige Performance Excellence Framework or similar performance improvement models.
  • Experience supporting grant funded or special healthcare initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Provide executive oversight and strategic direction for all assigned specialty service lines, including the Specialty Care Clinic, Optometry, and Audiology.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate short- and long-term strategic plans to improve access, quality, and outcomes across specialty services.
  • Ensure specialty services are integrated with primary care, ancillary, and allied health services to support coordinated, patient-centered care models.
  • Represent specialty services in organizational planning, leadership meetings, and cross functional initiatives.
  • Ensure delivery of high-quality, safe, and evidence-based specialty care services.
  • Collaborate with Quality Assurance, Accreditation, and Clinical Leadership to maintain compliance with CMS, HIPAA, AAAHC accreditation standards, credentialing requirements, and applicable clinical practice guidelines.
  • Monitor clinical performance indicators, including access, productivity, quality outcomes, patient experience, and compliance metrics.
  • Address identified risks, gaps, or deficiencies through corrective actions and continuous improvement strategies.
  • Provide oversight of budget development, fiscal management, and resource allocation for specialty service departments.
  • Monitor expenditures and financial performance; recommend and implement adjustments to ensure fiscal sustainability.
  • Support business planning for specialty services, including growth, service expansion, and optimization of clinic operations.
  • Provide leadership and oversight for staffing models, workforce planning, recruitment support, and retention strategies within specialty services.
  • Directly supervise and support Directors, Managers, and clinical leaders within specialty service lines.
  • Ensure effective performance management, coaching, leadership development, and succession planning.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, engagement, cultural humility, and continuous improvement.
  • Lead evaluation of community needs, service gaps, and opportunities to expand or enhance specialty services.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership, tribal partners, external agencies, and regulatory bodies to advance specialty care priorities.
  • Support grant-funded or special initiatives related to specialty services as assigned.
  • Oversee management of contracts, including vendor relationships and service agreements, and coordinate grant administration processes.
  • Contribute to organization-wide strategy, policy development, and operational improvement initiatives.
  • Uphold and promote organizational values, cultural respect, and service excellence.
  • Perform related duties as assigned in support of organizational objectives.
