About The Position

The Sr. Director of Software Engineering leads Centauri’s Software Engineering function, including solution and system architecture, application development, database development, and systems development across multiple technologies and platforms. The role focuses on architecture, team leadership, and resource development to ensure teams and individuals perform effectively, follow technology standards and best practices, and have the skills and experience needed to meet delivery requirements and contribute to a strong team environment. It also requires strategic understanding of Centauri’s business lines, partners, products, and goals, as well as an understanding of team members’ career goals, capabilities, and development needs.

The role develops the long-term technical vision and strategy for assigned product areas and leads enterprise and solution architecture efforts to establish scalable platforms. It drives development, security, reliability, and cost-optimization practices; maintains and improves development standards, policies, and procedures; and leads directors, managers, and individual contributors to deliver against product and service-line strategies. The position is onsite at Centauri’s Tempe, Arizona headquarters.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• 10 years of technology application, database, or systems development experience.
• 5 years of experience leading or managing software engineering professionals and teams.
• Experience managing software engineering professionals at director, manager, and individual-contributor levels.
• Ability to develop strategic, rational solutions to complex technology architecture challenges driven by rapid acquisitions.
• Ability to develop scalable applications, cloud solutions and platforms, and middleware solutions for rapid scaling and integration of complex environments.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, including the ability to teach and coach these skills.
• Strong negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to de-escalate in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong coaching and personal-development skills and interest in developing high-functioning teams.
• Strong knowledge of technology and ability to learn new technologies, with a focus on GCP serverless and data technologies.
• Knowledge of enterprise and system architecture patterns and development techniques.
• Ability to quickly learn the environment and standards for Centauri’s cata, clinical, and interoperability platforms and applications.
• Familiarity with healthcare data integration and interoperability technologies, including HL7, IHE, FHIR, JSON, XML, or related protocols and toolsets.
• Knowledge of systems-development Dev/Sec/Ops best practices and deployment at scale.
• Strong cloud and data engineering knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Develop long-term technical vision and strategy for assigned product areas.

• Enhance serverless, application, database, and systems development standards, policies, procedures, and best practices.

• Develop team members’ careers and performance through coaching and development programs.
• Hire, terminate, develop, and promote members of the Software Engineering function in partnership with delivery and business service lines.
