About The Position

The primary responsibility of this critical position is leadership and support for the Care Management programs in San Mateo, Santa Cruz, Monterey, Merced, and San Benito Counties. Additionally, the Senior Director will lead the expansion of future CalAIM program implementation and in newly identified regions. The Senior Director will supervise Regional Directors, Managers, Clinical and Administrative Staff.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree or higher in Administration, Public Health, Social Work, Nursing, Psychology, Counseling, Rehabilitation, Gerontology or Sociology from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum 5 years supervisory experience in a medical or community-based setting
  • Minimum 7 years experience as a Registered Nurse, Psychologist, or Licensed Clinical Social Worker in a medical or a community-based setting
  • Experience in building and leading an efficient and effective multi-disciplinary team preferred.
  • Broad understanding of community-based health and social services and pertinent policy issues
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Current/prior experience as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Psychologist, or Registered Nurse
  • Direct practice experience in behavioral health
  • Demonstrated understanding of the healthcare system, community-based resources, and long-term care support and services
  • Demonstrated understanding of behavioral health resources and behavioral health interventions
  • Ability to develop and successfully manage large numbers of professional relationships
  • Solid understanding of community-based case management
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and to encourage collegial working relationships and team building within IOA and with outside partnerships
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and develop new funding streams and partners

Responsibilities

  • Provide supervision, coaching, and mentoring to the Health Plan of San Mateo and Central California Alliance for Health (CCAH) Coastal and Inland leaders, and any future expansion program leaders
  • Lead Health Equity initiatives through data collection and analysis and implement strategies to impact areas of concern
  • Gather program data, specifically outcomes data, to compile and analyze evidence and examples of current operational performance. Additionally, utilize data to identify areas to improve operations and address gaps in services
  • Leverage data to develop best practices and improved operational models and standardize quality driven practices across all CalAIM programs
  • Lead and expand quality accreditations such as NCQA to further ensure IOA is following best practices and is seeking out ways to be a thought leader in high quality care delivery
  • In collaboration with VP of Community Living Services, develop program budgets and budget modifications for IOA, Medi-Cal providers, health plans, and Department of Health Care Services. Monitor monthly expenditures to ensure compliance with program budgets
  • Drive cross team process improvements and best practices that enhance the client and employee experiences across programs
  • In collaboration with VP of CLS, participate in IOA and/or Medi-Cal programs and health plans relevant to statewide Care Management, client transitions, or IOA’s strategic planning
  • Builds and maintains relationships with key funders and community partners
  • Innovate and execute new strategies for growing existing programs through enhanced services, pilots, or collaborative opportunities
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align growth strategies with overall programmatical goals
  • Partner with VP of CLS to establish new programs in accordance with Strategic Partnership team. Support collaboration and communication across CalAIM geographies across different department and teams in order to strive for cohesiveness and a sense of togetherness and belonging to facilitate a holistic approach to achieving a strategic objective.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to new program managers focusing on the enrollment process and the importance of growth while also understanding the CalAIM landscape.
  • Partner with CLS Leadership team to help foster positive and collaborative work environment, promoting professional development and growth for new Program Managers who are developing new programs.
  • Provide corporate visibility and share corporate communications with programs
  • Sets strategy and vision for the CLS programs related to employee engagement, client satisfaction, staff professional development, quality improvement, and budget performance
  • Conducts regular leader meetings
  • Develop and control operating budgets for CalAIM in collaboration with Finance
  • In collaboration with VP of CLS, participate in IOA and/or Medi-Cal programs and health plans relevant to statewide Care Management, client transitions, or IOA’s strategic planning
  • Builds and maintains relationships with key funders and community partners
  • Looks for opportunities to implement best practices as identified by corporate throughout the organization
  • Communicates clearly, concisely, collaboratively, and non-defensively with colleagues, direct reports, corporate staff, and corporate management
  • Responsible for expanding personal knowledge, skills and attitudes specific to CalAIM services
  • Responsible for expanding personal knowledge related to political initiatives and their impact on IOA service lines and programs
  • Responsible for remaining current with changes in statewide community-based and long term services for high-risk, low-income individuals, Medi-Cal and Medicare regulations and procedures that will impact the practice and direction of the program and staff
  • Ensures that centers operate in compliance with all State and Federal regulations
  • In collaboration with VP of Strategic Partnerships, provide support for new business opportunities
  • In collaboration with Facilities and Technology team, lead the development and implementation of new space and facilities plans for programs
  • Developing and implementing CalAIM programs in new regions in collaboration with Medi-Cal Managed Care health plans and the CLS implementation team
  • All other related duties as assigned
