About The Position

The Senior Director, Marketing & Strategy serves as a key member of the Chemical Analysis Division (CAD) Leadership Team and reports directly to the Division President. This leader will shape and execute the division's growth strategy by integrating market intelligence, portfolio management, business development, and commercial marketing initiatives to accelerate growth, strengthen competitive positioning, and maximize customer value. The successful candidate will partner closely with business unit leaders, commercial teams, product management, operations, and corporate functions to identify emerging market opportunities, establish strategic priorities, and drive execution against the division's short- and long-term objectives. This role requires a highly strategic leader who combines market insight, commercial acumen, and operational excellence to deliver sustainable business results across a global portfolio.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Business, Engineering, Life Sciences, or related field required.
  • 15+ years of progressive leadership experience across marketing, strategy, product management, business development, or commercial leadership roles.
  • Proven track record of developing and executing enterprise-level growth strategies within technology, analytical instrumentation, industrial, scientific, or related markets.
  • Demonstrated success leading global teams and influencing senior executive stakeholders.
  • Experience identifying, negotiating, and executing strategic partnerships, licensing agreements, acquisitions, or other growth initiatives.
  • Strong experience driving business transformation, portfolio optimization, and commercial excellence programs.
  • Exceptional strategic thinking with the ability to translate market insights into actionable growth strategies.
  • Strong executive presence with the ability to influence across all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead through complexity, ambiguity, and organizational change.
  • Outstanding business and financial acumen with a deep understanding of value creation and growth drivers.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and execution of the division's annual operating plan and long-range strategic roadmap to drive sustainable growth and market leadership.
  • Partner with the Division President and Leadership Team to define strategic priorities, allocate resources, and align investments with business objectives.
  • Analyze market trends, customer needs, competitive dynamics, and emerging technologies to identify growth opportunities and inform strategic decision-making.
  • Drive Strategic Business Reviews (SBRs), ensuring alignment between strategic initiatives, financial performance, and operational execution.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators, dashboards, and management operating systems to evaluate business performance and accelerate decision-making.
  • Champion Practical Process Improvement (PPI) principles to enhance organizational effectiveness, accountability, and execution.
  • Lead the division's global marketing strategy, translating business objectives into integrated commercial programs that accelerate pipeline generation, revenue growth, and customer engagement.
  • Direct the development and execution of digital marketing, demand generation, customer engagement, and brand positioning initiatives.
  • Strengthen commercial effectiveness by delivering compelling value propositions, customer insights, sales enablement tools, and go-to-market strategies.
  • Partner with commercial leaders to identify opportunities to increase market penetration, improve customer acquisition, and expand share of wallet.
  • Identify, evaluate, and execute strategic partnerships, licensing agreements, and growth opportunities that expand the division's capabilities and market reach.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key industry stakeholders, customers, and strategic partners to advance the division's growth agenda.
  • Drive initiatives that enhance the division's competitive position and create differentiated customer value.
  • Build, lead, and develop a high-performing global team focused on strategy, marketing, portfolio management, and business development.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Attract, develop, and retain top talent while creating robust succession plans and leadership pipelines.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the Division President and Leadership Team, providing insights and recommendations that influence critical business decisions.
