About The Position

The Director, Strategy & Marketing Management sits at an exciting intersection where data meets storytelling and the sharp analysis shapes how Marketing’s performance and competitive standing are understood at the highest levels of RBC Personal Banking. Reporting to the Head, Strategy & Planning, and working in close support of the CMO, Personal Banking, this individual plays a key role across two interconnected pillars: leading the intelligence-gathering and narrative that drives Marketing’s Quarterly Business Reviews with the Group Head, Personal Banking; and maintaining a sharp, always-current view of the competitive landscape. If you’re energized by turning complex information into something clear, compelling, and actionable, and you’re motivated by work that reaches the C-suite, this is the role for you.

Requirements

  • Exceptional ability to draw insight from diverse data sources – brand, media, business performance – and distill findings into a clear, compelling narrative.
  • Experience with or strong familiarity with competitive intelligence gathering – tracking marketing activity, promotional campaigns, media spend, etc.
  • Outstanding presentation and storytelling skills, with a proven ability to build executive-ready decks.
  • Intellectually curious and analytically rigorous, with instincts to know what matters and the discipline to support it with evidence.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple workstreams in a high-paced setting.
  • Capabilities to work effectively across teams without direct authority – building the relationships, setting clear expectations, and following through in ways that get people engaged and keep things moving.
  • Minimum 8–10 years of full-time, professional experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in financial services or another large, matrixed organization.
  • Background in management consulting or a strategy / planning function.
  • Background in media analytics, brand research, or business intelligence.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Quarterly Business Reviews: Own the end-to-end process of bringing together Marketing’s Quarterly Business Review (QBR). From corralling stakeholder inputs, data and performance metrics across multiple teams to building the presentation that goes in front of the Group Head, Personal Banking (PB). Establishing relationships that make the process run smoothly, setting clear expectations on timelines and formats, and knowing when to follow-up, push back, or ask clarifying questions. A tight narrative, anchored in sharp insights, that addresses what senior leaders need to hear.
  • Competitive Intelligence Reporting: Build and maintain a living view of the competitive landscape across brand and business. From brand tracking results to media spend trends to business performance metrics, you’ll develop analytical instincts to surface what matters. Identify patterns and implications, and ensure those insights are captured in the QBR to support decision-making and broader market planning.
  • Dynamic Support of PB Marketing Strategy: As the role evolves, there’s real scope to take on additional strategic priorities in support of PB Marketing with an elevated understanding of how marketing creates value across product portfolios, channels and client segments. Building polished, insight-led presentations that distill complex, multi-threaded information into clear messages with confident POVs – architecting narratives that cater to senior leadership.

Benefits

  • A comprehensive Total Rewards Program, including bonuses, flexible benefits and competitive compensation.
  • Leaders who support your development through coaching and managing opportunities.
  • Work in a dynamic, collaborative, progressive, and high-performing team.
  • Opportunities to do challenging work.
