Jackson Healthcare is seeking a Senior Director to lead its newly established Georgia-based captive insurance program. This role will partner with the Chief Risk Officer (CRO) to guide the captive's growth, evolution, and value maximization. It is a hands-on leadership position within a lean department, responsible for the end-to-end enterprise insurance and analytics function, including captive strategy, actuarial interpretation, RMIS stewardship, executive reporting, and renewal oversight. The role involves leading and developing two direct reports and working collaboratively with the CRO and senior leadership, offering significant exposure and the opportunity to become a strategic advisor.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience with sophisticated enterprise insurance programs, including direct captive insurance involvement.
  • Strong insurance analytics foundation: actuarial concepts, loss reserving, exposure analysis, data validation, and translating complex results into business decisions.
  • Fluency in a Risk Management Information System (RMIS).
  • Track record of working effectively with brokers, actuaries, carriers, captive managers, and regulators.
  • Proven ability to communicate complex insurance and risk concepts to non-technical audiences, including senior executives.
  • Demonstrated success leading or significantly contributing to insurance audit processes (workers’ compensation, medical malpractice, or equivalent).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Finance, Business, or a related field.
  • Minimum 10+ years of progressive insurance, captive, or risk management experience.

  • Direct experience with Origami Risk.
  • Advanced degree (MBA, CPCU, ARM).
  • Familiarity with Power BI or comparable analytics and visualization platforms.
  • Experience supporting M&A due diligence or integration from a risk and insurance perspective.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the internal owner and primary point of coordination for the Georgia-based captive insurance program, liaising with external captive management, counsel, and brokers.
  • Define and evolve the strategic direction of the captive, including growth opportunities, new lines of coverage, and program enhancements.
  • Oversee captive governance, compliance, regulatory filings, and financial reporting.
  • Develop and maintain business plans, underwriting guidelines, and investment policies for the captive.
  • Prepare materials for captive board and executive committee meetings.
  • Identify opportunities to expand captive utilization across the enterprise.
  • Provide strategic oversight and market perspective for enterprise-wide insurance renewals.
  • Partner with the Insurance Program Operations direct report on all lines of enterprise-wide insurance renewals.
  • Challenge the status quo in renewal strategy and explore innovative solutions.
  • Manage broker, carrier, and actuary relationships at a senior level.
  • Administer enterprise-wide Total Cost of Risk (TCOR) budgeting and cost allocation.
  • Oversee actuarial workflows, including exposure submissions, claims data, report interpretation, and communication of results.
  • Lead medical malpractice and workers’ compensation audit processes.
  • Serve as the senior business owner for the Risk Management Information System (RMIS), ensuring data integrity, system functionality, and user access.
  • Lead the evolution of RMIS and other data platforms to better serve captive, analytics, and reporting functions.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards, forecasting tools, and reporting frameworks for senior leadership and captive boards.
  • Champion AI and emerging technology within the analytics function.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with internal data and IT teams to integrate risk analytics into the enterprise data environment.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop two direct reports, focusing on their growth, capability, and confidence.
  • Foster a collaborative and intellectually curious team culture.
  • Translate complex insurance, captive, and actuarial concepts into clear, decision-ready language for executives.
  • Develop and deliver executive-level presentations.
  • Serve as a trusted resource and escalation point for time-sensitive risk issues.
