About The Position

NRG is seeking a Senior Director to join its Growth & Partnerships organization. This role is ideal for an entrepreneurial, commercially minded energy leader who enjoys building new businesses and partnerships at the intersection of customer needs, power markets, technology, capital, and enterprise strategy. The successful candidate will combine strategic insight, commercial judgment, financial acumen, and a builder’s mindset. They will set direction for a portfolio of priority opportunities, make clear recommendations on where the organization should focus, and lead teams in testing critical assumptions. They will be accountable for advancing the most promising opportunities from growth thesis through initial market deployment and transition to scale. This position will help shape enterprise growth opportunities across NRG’s portfolio, including data center power solutions, load management, distributed energy resources, virtual power plants, utility partnerships, generation development, edge computing, capital partnerships, and other emerging opportunities. The Senior Director will work shoulder-to-shoulder with NRG’s operating businesses and functional teams, pairing enterprise perspective with deep business-unit expertise to test, validate, and de-risk opportunities before transitioning proven models to business units for scale.

  • Commercially minded leaders who understand how customer value, competitive differentiation, execution feasibility, capital requirements, and financial returns fit together.
  • Natural bridge-builders who establish trust, align diverse stakeholders, and lead effectively through influence rather than formal authority alone.
  • Executive communicators who can frame decisions and present integrated recommendations to senior leadership, clearly articulating strategic fit, customer value, enterprise advantage, economics, risk, required resources, and the recommended path forward.
  • People leaders who set a high bar for analytical rigor, ownership, collaboration, intellectual honesty, and pace.
