About The Position

Johnson & Johnson is searching for the best talent for a Senior Director, Global Strategic Marketing & Innovation located in Irvine, CA or Irving, TX. The Senior Director, Global Strategic Marketing will lead the development and execution of the global product marketing and innovation strategy for MENTOR’s surgical breast portfolio. Primary responsibilities include leading MENTOR’s Breast Implant and Expander current and future product lines globally. This position is responsible for global brand management, future innovation, and global business attainment. The position will be primarily responsible for the development of MENTOR’s core Breast and Reconstruction product portfolio roadmap including the identification of organic and inorganic opportunities and the launch preparation and execution of new products, product line extensions, and product iterations on a worldwide basis. This role will be responsible for developing Mentor’s growth strategy for supporting innovation for new products and programs outside the core. It will also be responsible for Global Portfolio and globalization of our E2E marketing efforts including global product positioning, messaging, pricing and driving global collaboration and execution with our regions and markets. Additionally, the role will be responsible for leading our Global Business Insights team. The position serves as the global commercial leader for any implant/expander collaborating with multiple functions including R&D, Clinical, Regulatory Affairs, Medical Affairs and Supply Chain among others. This leader will develop new product value propositions (positioning, price, and promotion) for Breast Implants/Expanders in the Augmentation and Reconstruction portfolio working closely with Regional Marketing partners around the world and will also launch these products globally.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s level degree or equivalent
  • Minimum of 15 years of overall business experience, along with a minimum of five years of direct people leadership/management experience
  • Experience in development of a results focused team-based environment required underlying ability to coach and train to motivate others
  • Experience in developing and implementing yearly business plans which include defining goals, strategies, and tactics
  • Strong experience in both upstream and downstream marketing
  • Proven leadership capability in a continuous improvement operational environment
  • Strong analytical problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication and networking skills, dealing with all functions and levels of the organization
  • Documented success in developing strategies and implementing tactical plans in driving new products or programs

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree (Master’s, MBA, or equivalent)
  • Medical device industry experience is strongly preferred.
  • Experience in aesthetics and breast reconstruction preferred
  • Cross functional business experience strongly preferred
  • Strategic minded with excellent decision-making skills, and verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Leads the GSM global strategy for innovation and growth and be the point for developing a robust global Portfolio that is closely aligned to customer and the needs of the business
  • Owns and drives new and existing product marketing plans and programs for Implants and Breast Reconstruction product lines to grow the business and meet/exceed global Business Plan forecasts
  • Develops talent and holds team accountable to achieving business results and goals
  • Ensure the collection of voice of customer data to help identify and define unmet or latent needs; Leverages these customer insights for commercial opportunities
  • Works closely with New Business Development and R&D to identify both internal/organic as well as inorganic/external opportunities
  • Drives team to develop marketing plans, forecasts and financial models to support New Product launches and New Product Development Opportunities globally with input from regional commercial groups to account for local variations & various stages of market maturity
  • Holds team accountable to Monitoring and analyzing competitive activity
  • Leads the Global Business and commercial Insights groups to identify trends and opportunities for supporting and expanding innovation
  • Works across all elements of the marketing mix to develop value propositions for new products and enhance those of existing products.
  • Uses appropriate channels of communication, brand strategy, marketing planning and execution, pricing, launch excellence; Ensures product knowledge is effectively transferred to commercial regional groups and field organizations
  • Drives team to implement NPI strategy and influences the regions to employ LEX process when launching NPI globally
  • Builds network with key opinion leaders and monitors industry developments impacting business
  • Ensures business continuity through demand planning and forecasting activities with regional commercial marketing partners
  • Supports Life Cycle Management activities
  • Monitors and controls budget for maximum ROI effectiveness
  • Works productively with external agencies
  • Responsible for communicating business-related issues or opportunities to next management level
  • Responsible for ensuring that subordinates follow all Company guidelines related to Health, Safety and Environmental practices and that all resources needed to do so are available and in good condition, if applicable
  • Responsible for ensuring personal and Company compliance with all Federal, State, local and Company regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Performs other duties assigned as needed
