With a significant consumer media investment across the Lilly portfolio, this role will set the vision and strategy for one half of the enterprise portfolio, partnering closely with a peer Senior Director who oversees the other half. Together, they will ensure a cohesive, enterprise-first consumer media strategy while delivering against individual brand and portfolio needs. Reporting to the Associate Vice President of Media & Partnerships, the Senior Director will lead a team of 3–4 and serve as a trusted advisor to senior executives, translating insights into clear recommendations that drive decision-making and long-term growth. This leader will shape media objectives, channel principles, and investment frameworks that balance enterprise priorities with brand performance — while overseeing agency partnerships, ensuring accountability, and driving strategic value creation. The role also requires staying ahead of shifts in consumer behavior, media innovation, and the competitive landscape to proactively advise on opportunities and risks. The ideal candidate is a seasoned media strategist who can influence at the highest levels, deliver financial stewardship with rigor and clarity, and build the talent and organizational capability to elevate Lilly's consumer media expertise.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 10 years’ experience in media and marketing with 8 years of experience in specifically media agency and/or client side

Responsibilities

  • Enterprise Media Strategy & Governance – Set the vision and framework for consumer media strategy across brands, aligning to enterprise priorities and long-term growth. Define channel principles, measurement standards, and investment objectives that drive consistency and business impact while pushing toward innovation and future-forward approaches.
  • Executive Advisory & Influence – Serve as a trusted advisor to senior executives on media and marketing investment strategy. Translate complex data and insights into clear, compelling recommendations that inform enterprise decision-making and build alignment around media's role in driving business performance and customer-centric experiences.
  • Financial Stewardship – Oversee the enterprise media investment portfolio across brands and channels, ensuring responsible management of significant budgets. Establish investment principles and governance to improve ROI, enable strategic trade-offs, and deliver visibility and accountability to leadership.
  • Agency & Partner Ecosystem – Lead enterprise-level media agency partnerships, ensuring the right operating models, talent, and performance standards are in place. Shape agency accountability, develop collaboration, and build senior relationships with agency executives to drive strategic thought leadership and evolving capability.
  • Market & Industry Foresight – Monitor consumer, competitive, and category trends alongside advancements in media, data, and technology. Anticipate shifts in the external landscape and proactively advise the enterprise on opportunities, risks, and strategic implications.
  • Risk & Reputation Management – Ensure media practices uphold the highest standards of compliance, privacy, brand safety, and customer trust. Establish guardrails and governance models to safeguard reputation and meet all consumer marketing guidelines and policies.
  • Talent & Capability Development – Build and cultivate a high-performing media organization with the right capabilities and leadership pipelines. Inspire, mentor, and grow talent internally while shaping external partnerships to elevate the company's media expertise.
