Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Public Health or related field required.
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive responsibility in healthcare operations management, preferably at an academic medical center.
  • Healthcare experience, specifically in physician practice finance or management or in a clinical department at an academic medical center preferred.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the operations of an academic department and ability to provide initiative and leadership to enhance operations and resolve problems.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and analyze all pertinent information/data to make recommendations to meet the department’s current academic and administrative needs.
  • Advanced analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to perform business analysis to determine best use of resources to complete complex tasks and projects; must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced, and sometimes ambiguous environment with changing priorities.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to translate analyses into actionable information for decision-making at all levels throughout the organization.
  • Demonstrated track record of forming collaborative and effective working relationships with physicians and administrative leaders.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint required.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and lead staff in a changing environment.
  • Bachelor's Degree (Required)

Responsibilities

  • Supports the Executive Director in the management of divisional operations and execution of the department’s strategic plan as it relates to division budget planning, fiscal and resource planning/administration, human resource utilization, policy development and administration, and annual operating plan goals.
  • Leads or provides support for managing complex, multi-disciplinary projects within the Department
  • In partnership with the LCMG Business Operations team, supports the department and divisional leadership teams in the development and analysis of the annual operating budget; supports departmental efforts in monitoring progress against budget.
  • Partners with the Executive Director to lead annual operating budget initiatives related to revenue growth and expense management goals.
  • Establishes a system for proactive monitoring of monthly financials, productivity review and access management at the department and division-level, recommending action where appropriate.
  • Partners with the department and divisional leadership teams and the foundation finance team to plan spending of endowments and philanthropic funds, ensuring appropriate stewardship and strategic deployment of resources.
  • Serves as liaison to Division Administrators and Division Heads in operational, financial and budgetary management for their respective programs.
  • Partners with other Departmental leadership to ensure the effective management of faculty effort allocation, clinical activity tracking, and productivity reporting and management.
  • Supports the divisional faculty recruitment process by reviewing the financial components of business plans and offer letters to ensure they meet departmental standards and expectations.
  • Administers commitments and monitors and measures performance against plan.
  • Serves as a liaison with faculty and faculty leadership in the Department of Pediatrics.
  • Establishes and maintains working relationships with institutional peers, serves as departmental liaison, helps ensure that the department is responsive to institutional requests and completes projects in a timely fashion.
  • Manages the day-to-day activities of direct reports through various human resources activities including: staffing, scheduling, recruitment/selection, orientation and training, employee development, and performance evaluation and management.
