Sr. Data Scientist I - User Growth
About The Position
As a Senior Data Scientist on Redfin’s Growth Analytics team, you will use website and app behavioral data to uncover insights that drive user acquisition, engagement, retention, conversion, and business growth. You will analyze how users interact with Redfin across buyer, seller, renter, and mortgage journeys; identify customer needs and conversion drivers; measure the impact of business initiatives; and partner with Product and Engineering to shape growth strategy. The role involves translating ambiguous business questions into actionable analyses, developing behavioral segmentation frameworks and user profiles, and leading experimentation and measurement. You will establish experimentation best practices, measurement frameworks, success metrics, and guardrails; use causal inference to measure incremental impact; build predictive and forecasting models; and collaborate with product, engineering, and business leaders to identify opportunities, diagnose performance issues, and communicate recommendations. The role is hybrid, with in-office work on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at the Seattle or Detroit offices and remote work on other days. Highly qualified candidates residing outside these areas may be considered for a fully remote arrangement.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of Data Science experience working with product and user data, with a track record of driving measurable impact for consumer-facing products at scale.
- At least 3 years of hands-on statistical modeling experience using Python and/or R.
- Deep expertise in experimentation and causal inference, including A/B and multivariate testing, experimental design, power and sample size calculations, guardrails, sequential testing, incrementality measurement, and quasi-experimental methods.
- Strong statistical modeling skills, including regression, user segmentation, and forecasting, with the ability to apply appropriate methods to complex business problems.
- Expert-level SQL skills and strong proficiency in data analysis, Excel, and data visualization.
- Demonstrated practical use of AI tools in analytics workflows, with examples of measurable improvements in analytical speed, quality, or productivity.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, including the ability to explain complex analyses through compelling business narratives, influence senior stakeholders, and build consensus across cross-functional teams.
- Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field.

Responsibilities
