About The Position

As a member of the Starlink Mobile team, the Sr. Core Integration Engineer will integrate, test, and evaluate the functional performance, reliability, and robustness of a complex satellite communication network. The role integrates communication system components on satellites and ground stations, assesses and reports performance status to project leaders, and develops tools to improve testing processes and effectiveness. The position helps ensure strong communications performance, successful integration with mobile operators, and compliance with operating licenses. The engineer defines requirements and integration plans for LTE EPC, 5GC SA, and IMS products; identifies product features and technology trade-offs; and develops global cellular core product roadmaps. The role also leads technical partnership programs with international mobile network operators and owns documentation of cellular core network design, integration, and performance metrics supporting international direct-to-handset expansion.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline.
  • At least 5 years of experience integrating cellular LTE core networks (EPC, 5GC, and IMS).
  • At least 2 years of experience with 3G, LTE, or 5G network delivery, automation, design, and deployment.
  • Experience with 3GPP network packet core and transport interfaces or protocols, such as SIP, RTP, Diameter, SCTP, GTP, NAS, NGAP, and HTTP2.
  • Willingness to work extended hours and weekends as needed.
  • Willingness and ability to spend extended periods at partner sites.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in an engineering discipline.
  • Strategic technology decision-making and core networking infrastructure and feature-roadmap design in an operator or vendor setting.
  • Hands-on experience with IMS architecture and voice service integration (VoLTE, VoNR, and VoWiFi), including SIP signaling, RTP media, and interworking with EPC/5GC.
  • Knowledge of satellite and wireless communication theory.
  • Ability to handle C-level technical discussions and presentations.
  • At least 5 years integrating and/or testing cellular 3G/4G/5G or similar protocol stacks.
  • Experience with Linux and Linux automation tools.
  • Experience with lab equipment such as network analyzers, packet load modules, and network emulators.
  • Script development for test automation, test plans, and test beds.
  • Experience with Atlassian tools (Jira, Stash, Bamboo) and Git/Gerrit or SVN.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

  • Define LTE EPC, 5GC SA, and IMS product requirements, identify new product features, and develop core network integration plans for carrier-grade network architectures.
  • Identify technology trade-offs and create global product roadmaps for cellular core products, including emergency services, public warning systems, roaming, and voice over LTE, NR, and WiFi.
  • Run technical partnership programs with international mobile network operators, including technical discussions and support for core network integrations.
  • Create and own documentation of cellular core network design, integration, and performance metrics for the international direct-to-handset expansion strategy, including EPC, 5GC SA, IMS products, 3GPP features and interfaces, and regulatory matters.
  • Integrate, test, and evaluate satellite and ground-station communication system components and network performance.
  • Track and report performance status to project leaders and implement tools to improve testing processes and effectiveness.
  • Ensure successful network integration with mobile operators and compliance with operating licenses.
