About The Position
Provide support to the Manufacturing Engineering team of the Business Unit and all plants with primary focus on machine commissioning during new product launches covering PLC and Controls integration on any type of equipment. Contribute to the cost efficiency in manufacturing processes applying lean manufacturing methods.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Electronics, Automation or related field) or equivalent experience
- Minimum of five years’ experience in the automotive industry
- Ability to read electronic & pneumatic & hydraulic prints
- Proficient at Siemens S7, TIA and the Microsoft Office package
- Experience with industrial robots – preferably Motoman/Yaskawa
- Experience with automated welding – preferably with SKS and Fronius
- Experience as PLC Engineer
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally on short notice (up to 80%) via car and plane
- Strong communication skills (cross-functional and cross-cultural)
- Problem-solving and analytical mindset
- Fluent in English

- Spanish and German speaking a plus
Responsibilities
- Commissioning & Launch Support of semi-/fully automated production lines in all BU US and Mexico plants
- Provide third level support to production sites and respond to production stop emergencies on short notice
- Support with Robot-PLC interface setup and troubleshooting
- Collaborate with global launch team
- Siemens PLC programming of weld cells and EOL equipment as well as tool bars via Step 7 / WinCC / TIA portal
- Expert in device communication (Serial, Profibus, Profinet, TCP/IP)
- Install and integrate new technology solutions in the area of automation / visual poka yokes etc.
- Integrate laser etching systems and grading devices to meet ISO/IEC 15415 and ISO/IEC TR29158
- Troubleshoot PLC program / wiring / hardware issues and resolve problems
- Design / modify / integrate pneumatic circuits, hydraulic circuits, electrical wiring
- Review machine safety circuits for proper functionality
- Install and integrate traceability system to new and existing production lines; collaborate closely with Purem ETS team
- Install and integrate OEE addon across the BU US / Mexico plants for improved operational excellence
- Provide training to plant personnel (PLC techs / control engineers) and suppliers
- Establish new company controls standards in close collaboration with the BU Europe
- Ensure that suppliers adhere to company standards and standardized programming
- Research new technologies and implementation
- Other duties as assigned
- Conduct all business-related activities for, and on the behalf of, Purem within the limits of applicable local, state, and federal legal requirements
- Review new machine builds and ensure standardization is met.
- Provide support to, and compliance with, all local and corporate Purem Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) policies, procedures and other HSE related requirements
- Quality - Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness and follows all EETAM polices related to IATF 16949 and ISO 14001
- Identify ways to improve and promote quality
