About The Position

The Sr. Cloud & Infrastructure Engineer will design, optimize, support, and automate cloud infrastructure for business platforms, continually improving those platforms to meet Global Payments’ evolving needs. The role primarily supports AWS and Azure, and also involves ancillary and on-premises services and hybrid solutions. The engineer will contribute to concurrent projects, partner with business owners and technical teams, support secure and reliable infrastructure, and help build shared team knowledge through cross-training and mentoring.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a similar field, or equivalent work experience.
5–7 years of systems administration, design, engineering, or comparable IT technical experience.
Design and operations experience in both AWS and Azure environments.
Experience with enterprise repositories, particularly GitHub Enterprise, and deployment management and CI/CD pipelines, particularly Jenkins and Harness.
Experience with multiple active scripting languages and strong infrastructure-as-code skills, especially Terraform, Ansible, PowerShell, and Python.
Strong knowledge of multiple Linux distributions and Windows Server, including administering these systems through scripted or automated processes.
Strong knowledge of infrastructure services and systems, including Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, DFS, and Group Policy, covering automation, setup, implementation, and optimization.
Understanding of virtual environments, including VMware ESXi, vCenter, vCAC, and VDIs.
Working knowledge of implementing automation orchestration across lifecycle environments.
Understanding of configuration management and software deployment principles.
Excellent communication skills, including the ability to lead design discussions, planning sessions, and triage.
Demonstrated ownership of tasks, projects, and responsibilities.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proven troubleshooting methodology.
Willingness to work off-hours, including on-call schedules and project release windows.
Willingness to propose innovative ideas and solutions, even if initially unpopular.
Good organization, task-management, and time-management skills, with an understanding of work/life balance.
Authorization to work in the U.S. without current or future employment-based visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

Design and deliver business-impacting cloud infrastructure solutions in AWS and Azure, aligned with company and cloud-team strategies and standards, including ancillary services, on-premises services, and hybrid solutions.
Support automated build methodologies for resource provisioning, hardening, PaaS offerings, load-balancer rules, and firewall policies.
Own engineering efforts, including solution design and optimization, across multiple concurrent projects in collaboration with business owners, product teams, and application teams.
Maintain installation and configuration procedures and automate these processes.
Cross-train and mentor team members, and develop shared knowledge of team tools to reduce knowledge silos and dependencies.
Work with management and technical peers to establish and support technical policies and procedures.
Provide procedures to operational teams and ensure they are current, accurate, and understood.
Drive compliance and security efforts for systems managed by the team.
Improve the stability and availability of infrastructure services.
Work with project managers and infrastructure coordinators on project progress, issues, and solutions.
