Sr Civil Engineer - Earthworks
About The Position
As Senior Civil Earthworks engineer, you will be part of the functional team in the US that will provide oversight to project execution teams. You will be involved in client interface and coordination of the Civil Earthworks for multiple projects. Your recommendations and technical expertise will ensure the unique and complex requirements of a project’s civil aspects are met. This position will involve business travel to project sites across the United States and Canada, as well as to our engineering offices in India. This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and will require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership.
Requirements
- Requires a bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience
- Has a US Professional Engineering License
- Recognized as advanced contributor with specialized skill set
- Considered highly skilled and proficient in discipline
- Seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of area of specialization, resolves a wide range of complex issues in creative and effective ways
- Working knowledge and use of Civil 3D
- Experience working on Combined Cycle Power projects, along with a good knowledge of industry or regulatory standards and design criteria pertinent to the Civil/Structural discipline.
- Demonstrated skills in oral and written communication in English language.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship.
Responsibilities
- Plans and conducts independent Civil Earthworks requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, application, and adaptation of Civil/Structural engineering techniques, procedures and criteria on a medium size project or assignment in support of a global business unit
- Leads the design, development, modification, and evaluation of Civil/Structural components and processes utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards and guides, Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs) and Design Control Check List (DCCL) and Design Review Notices (DRNs)
- Reviews and approves key design documents, supplier drawings and data, material specifications, drawings, change orders, and bid summaries for the project to which assigned
- Originates and checks complex Civil engineering deliverables related to Civil Earthworks.
- Develops conceptual designs for Civil engineering projects or projects having specialized or unique requirements
- Prepares or oversees the preparation of discipline estimates and work plan in accordance with project scope, schedule and budget, and supports implementation and assists with performance reporting
- Interprets new or special regulations, codes, standards, criteria, and performance data
- Mentors Civil/Structural engineering personnel by providing on-the-job training for their professional development
