About The Position

Apple’s Home Systems Software (HSS) team creates software for Apple TV, HomePod, and other Apple devices, delivering home entertainment and connected-device experiences. The Senior Build and Release Engineer will join the Engineering Operations team and work closely with engineers to develop and drive build and release processes. The role maintains and improves existing tooling and designs, architects, and implements tools that optimize engineering workflows. It calls for an automation-first approach, including using AI tools to improve personal efficiency and identifying opportunities to incorporate AI into automation, tooling, and support workflows. The engineer will apply source control management best practices and strong software development practices to drive processes across the engineering organization.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience in a software build and release-related role.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• Passion for developing automation and a proven record of streamlining developer productivity.
• Proficiency with AI-assisted development tools, such as coding assistants and LLM-based tools.
• Experience incorporating AI into automation, such as LLM-powered tooling, agents, or Model Context Protocol (MCP) integrations.
• Hands-on experience with continuous integration and delivery platforms, such as Jenkins.
• Advanced experience with source control, such as Git.
• Experience with branching strategies and best practices.
• Experience building large-scale software and triaging failures.
• Ability to work effectively across different teams.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience working with Xcode.
• Experience with Kubernetes and Docker.
• Strong experience with Jenkins.
• Experience with Bitbucket.
