About The Position

Labcorp is seeking a US based remote Sr. Bioinformatics Scientist to join their team. The Sr. Bioinformatics Scientist is a seasoned, experienced professional with a wide range of experience who uses concepts and organizational objectives to resolve complex issues in a creative and effective way. Exercises judgment in determining objectives and approaches to assignments. Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. This role involves leading complex technical projects, driving innovation in methods and tools, and contributing to strategic planning by translating business needs into technical requirements. The scientist will build cross-functional relationships, advise on complex bioinformatics and engineering matters, and design and implement advanced bioinformatics solutions with a substantial understanding of genomics and genetics. Collaboration with molecular biology teams on assay development, including experimental design and analysis, is key. The role also involves driving regulatory compliance through analysis and technical writing for verification, validation, and documentation, as well as developing and optimizing complex analysis pipelines based on deep knowledge of bioinformatics algorithms. Guiding result interpretation and reporting standards, establishing quality control metrics, and driving improvements in accuracy, COGS, and turnaround time are also responsibilities. The scientist will lead verification and validation efforts, interface with clinical and commercial stakeholders, evaluate genomic data for complex variants, and architect and implement complex software systems. Establishing development standards, driving system reliability and performance improvements, leading technical design reviews, implementing robust testing frameworks, guiding technical architecture decisions, and establishing monitoring systems are also part of the role.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree with 10 or more years of experience in bioinformatics, molecular biology, computational biology or engineering, OR Master’s degree with 6 years of experience in bioinformatics, molecular biology, computational biology or engineering, OR PhD with 4 or more years of experience in bioinformatics, molecular biology, computational biology, or engineering.
Understanding of regulatory requirements in bioinformatics including regulatory compliance and documentation requirements
Track record of identifying principled, robust, high-quality solutions to open-ended problems
Understanding of bioinformatics algorithms and underlying statistical and probabilistic techniques
Understanding of molecular biology underlying one or more products
Strong background in selecting appropriate datasets void of assumptions and biases
Project leadership abilities for complex issues requiring evaluation of variable factors
Excellence in determining methods and processes on new assignments
Strategic thinking in selecting methods, evaluating, and adapting complex techniques
Stakeholder management expertise across scientific and engineering boundaries
Advanced communication skills for persuading diverse stakeholders while delivering wider firm business messages
