About The Position

The Sr. Analyst, COGS & Inventory will support Dan-O’s product costing, inventory tracking, and gross margin visibility by ensuring cost data is accurate, timely, and consistently applied. This role partners closely with Operations/Supply Chain and Accounting to translate operational inputs into clear, reliable financial insights. This is a hands-on role focused on execution and analysis within an inventory-driven environment. The ideal candidate has experience working with SKU-level costing and supply chain data, and is comfortable navigating real-world inputs from Operations to support consistent and actionable reporting. Working under the guidance of Finance leadership, this role will contribute to improving existing processes and enhancing visibility into key cost and margin drivers as the business continues to grow.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field
  • 3–5+ years of progressively responsible experience in cost accounting or financial analysis
  • Experience in a CPG, manufacturing, or inventory-based business preferred
  • Strong Excel skills and experience working with ERP or inventory systems
  • Solid understanding of COGS, inventory, and basic cost accounting principles
  • Experience working cross-functionally with Operations or Supply Chain teams
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work with imperfect or evolving data
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative, problem-solving mindset

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update landed cost information by SKU using inputs from Operations
  • Support and maintain existing costing processes and methodology in partnership with Finance and Operations
  • Help ensure cost components (ingredients, packaging, freight, co-manufacturing) are consistently captured and applied
  • Follow established standards for how costs are calculated and tracked, and recommend improvements as needed
  • Maintain accurate SKU-level cost data and update as inputs change
  • Partner with Operations and Accounting to validate cost assumptions
  • Identify, investigate, and help resolve inconsistencies or gaps in cost information
  • Prepare and maintain gross margin reporting and SKU-level analysis
  • Support Accounting with COGS reconciliation and variance analysis
  • Assist in explaining changes in margin and key cost drivers
  • Serve as a key finance partner to Operations on cost-related questions and analysis
  • Collaborate with Operations on cost inputs, new product costing support, and operational cost changes
  • Provide margin insights to Sales and leadership as needed
  • Assist in developing cost estimates for new product launches
  • Track actual costs compared to initial assumptions post-launch
  • Support visibility into margin expectations for new SKUs
  • Help improve consistency and structure in costing and reporting processes
  • Reduce manual reporting work over time in partnership with the Sr. Data Analyst
  • Support efforts to improve data accuracy and reporting efficiency
  • Support COGS and gross margin inputs into forecasting processes
  • Assist in modeling the impact of cost changes (ingredients, freight, packaging, etc.)
