About The Position

The Business Insights team is a trusted strategic partner to Retirement Solutions, turning data into reporting and insights that power the best protection solutions, experiences, and outcomes so participants can move confidently toward and live in a secure, dignified retirement. We anticipate customer needs, surface what the data is telling us before we are asked, and help lead the organization to better decisions. This role will be primarily responsible for the development and run support of Plan Sponsor & Consultant reporting for our Governmental & Institutional plans. SQL and Microsoft BI will be a part of your daily workflow as you service report/dashboard requests. You will primarily utilize DCdirect data stored in the RS ODS, but you will work with multiple data sets. Candidates should be comfortable learning and working with new data sets. The ideal candidate should demonstrate strength in the following areas: Data analytics – must have foundational understanding of SQL & Microsoft Power BI Strong attention to detail and critical thinking skills Effective communication and collaboration skills Understanding of retirement plans Promoting and fostering team engagement A proactive approach in driving your own upskilling in data and digital skills A passion for continuous improvement with the ability to identify and implement data/reporting enhancements. As a Senior Analyst, Business Insights, you'll extract and manipulate internal and external data through R/SAS/SQL/Python, perform diagnostic and inferential analysis, and communicate actionable insights to business partners. You'll partner with internal customers to determine data and information needs to aid with business decisions. Your focus will be to maximize the insight gained from internal and external data, ensuring that business partners are making decisions in an optimally informed way.

Requirements

  • Foundational understanding of SQL & Microsoft Power BI
  • Strong attention to detail and critical thinking skills
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills
  • Understanding of retirement plans
  • Undergraduate studies in data or business analytics, computer science, management information, business, mathematics or related field with post-graduate studies preferred
  • Four years or more of related experience with data extraction, data manipulation, data visualization analysis, and problem solving; working with large.
  • Prior experience in SQL, R, Python or SAS preferred.
  • Knowledge of business policies and procedures, customer service concepts and practices.
  • Familiarity with business terminology and processes is desired.
  • Understanding of and working knowledge to conduct data management and extraction of data for analysis.
  • Strong communication skills for interactions with others.
  • Ability to understand business processes and the data produced by them.
  • Ability to work under tight time constraints.
  • Capable of developing distinctive and understandable data visualizations.

Responsibilities

  • Extracts and manipulates data from internal and external data sources to position it for root cause, exploratory analysis.
  • Leverages programming languages like R/Python/SQL/SAS to curate data.
  • Develops, produces and maintains ad hoc and custom reports or analyses and views for functional business areas.
  • Plans and manages execution of work, participates in planning and delivers on commitments.
  • Leverages statistical inferencing when conducting analysis.
  • Communicates significance in findings when working with business partners.
  • May help build and use business intelligence applications using statistical, database and/or general programming languages and tools and may assist in using technology for data management, report automation and/or ad hoc reporting for end users.
  • Applies appropriate quantitative techniques and methods to help resolve business problems.
  • Participates in special projects, teams, and continuous improvement of department processes through ongoing initiatives.
  • Communicates insights found to business partners so they can make informed decisions.
  • Ensures that insights are action oriented.
  • May serve as a single point of contact for business areas for the intake and prioritization of data reporting, and analysis.
  • May perform other responsibilities as assigned.
