Our leaders also foster a culture where work life balance, which requires flexibility for when life happens, is important and respected. Travel is minimal.

Requirements

  • Able to work now and in the future without BNSF’s assistance (whether monetary, through sponsorship, or otherwise) in obtaining, maintaining, or extending employment authorization (including H-1B, STEM OPT/CPT, or TN nonimmigrant status).
  • Bachelor’s degree with preference in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or Business, and/or equivalent formal training, certifications or work experience.
  • Minimum of 2+ years’ work experience in a Business and/or Information Technology environment
  • Experience building applications to automate and create efficiencies in Business processes
  • Experience developing SQL queries, views, and stored procedures against relational databases such as SQL Server, DB2, Teradata, or SAP HANA
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Effectively communicates project assignments and status updates along with demoing technology solutions
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with business and technology stakeholders.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with end-user reporting tools such as Tableau, Power-BI, Alteryx, UiPath RPA, Python, .Net, Visual Basic, C# or similar technologies
  • Experience supporting Finance, Accounting, Operations, Supply Chain, or other business functions
  • Experience with railroad terminology and operational processes
  • Self-motivator with strong project management and time-management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage both short-term and long-term objectives
  • Confidence to challenge current processes and propose solutions that better utilize existing technology

Responsibilities

  • Partner with business stakeholders to understand current processes, gather requirements, and identify opportunities for automation and process improvement
  • Design, develop, test, and support applications, reports, and automation solutions using technologies such as Tableau, Power-BI, Alteryx, or Python
  • Leverage technology to gather, analyze, and present actionable information that leadership can use to make tactical and strategic business decisions
  • Apply AI-enabled tools and technologies to accelerate development, documentation, testing, analysis, and other technology-related activities while maintaining quality and governance standards
  • Maintain and enhance existing applications by implementing feature improvements, resolving issues, and optimizing performance
  • Document solutions, processes, and technical designs to ensure sustainability and knowledge sharing
  • Collaborate with Finance and Technology teams to ensure solutions align with business objectives and technology standards
  • Tracking project performance and reporting successful completion of short-term and long-term goals
  • Effectively manage multiple assignments and priorities in a fast-paced environment while meeting established deadlines
