Sr. Analyst, Asset Lifecyle Management

GM•Warren, MI
•Hybrid

About The Position

General Motors plans, designs, and executes more than $2 billion in facility capital projects annually across manufacturing and non-manufacturing facilities. This role supports centralized and coordinated facility asset lifecycle management across GM’s portfolio by connecting project handoff, facility operations, maintenance, enterprise asset management, and long-term sustainment planning. The Sr. Analyst is a senior individual contributor and subject-matter expert and process owner for facility asset lifecycle management. The role operates with substantial independence, addresses complex and non-standard problems, and influences decisions across Facilities Operations, Construction, Engineering, Maintenance, Finance, Information Technology, Data Analytics, site teams, and service providers. It establishes standards, processes, and decision-support practices to improve asset information, maintenance, condition data, and sustainment planning. This role is categorized as hybrid. The selected candidate is expected to report to a specific location at least three times a week or at another frequency dictated by their manager. Relocation benefits are available to candidates who qualify under company policy. GM does not provide immigration-related sponsorship for this role.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, Business, Operations, Information Systems, or a related field; equivalent demonstrated experience may be considered.
  • At least 7 years of progressively responsible experience in facilities operations, plant engineering, maintenance, reliability, asset management, construction, or a related industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated experience with an enterprise asset-management or computerized maintenance-management system, such as Maximo, and with asset data governance or data-quality improvement.
  • Experience developing or implementing asset-management processes, standards, data models, maintenance strategies, condition assessments, or lifecycle decision-support practices.
  • Ability to analyze data, develop meaningful metrics, evaluate alternatives, and communicate recommendations to leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional work and influence operations, maintenance, construction, engineering, Finance, Information Technology, and external partners without direct authority.
  • Strong written, verbal, facilitation, organizational, and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities independently and exercise sound judgment with incomplete information.
  • Must not require GM immigration sponsorship now or in the future.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with facility asset classification frameworks, such as Uniformat or a similar standard.
  • Familiarity with capital planning, facility infrastructure investment, asset sustainment, or portfolio risk management.
  • Background in reliability engineering, maintenance strategy, condition assessment, or asset-management standards.
  • Experience leading change management, training, or communities of practice across multiple sites or regions.
  • Experience with data visualization, reporting, or analytical tools such as Power BI, SQL, or comparable platforms.
  • Experience supporting physical asset inventories, project-to-operations handoffs, financial reconciliations, or audit activities.

Responsibilities

  • Own and continuously improve the facility asset lifecycle process from asset creation and project handoff through maintenance, renewal, and retirement.
  • Develop and maintain facility asset standards for identification, classification, hierarchy, ownership, criticality, location, parent-child relationships, units of measure, and related attributes.
  • Define asset-information requirements and acceptance criteria for project deliverables and handoffs so new or modified assets are ready for operational use.
  • Drive consistent adoption of facility asset standards across manufacturing, customer care and aftersales, and non-manufacturing sites.
  • Identify systemic gaps in asset data, governance, or lifecycle practices and lead cross-functional actions to resolve them.
  • Serve as the facility asset data and process subject-matter expert for GM’s enterprise asset-management platform, including Maximo or successor systems.
  • Establish and maintain minimum facility asset data requirements, including asset type, facility designation, classification, installation date, location, unit of measure, capacity, ownership, and condition-related attributes.
  • Lead data-quality assessments and remediation, including physical inventory validation and resolution of missing or inconsistent fields, duplicate records, incomplete classifications, ownership gaps, and asset-hierarchy issues.
  • Partner with Information Technology and Data Analytics to define system requirements, data models, integrations, reporting, and enhancements for asset lifecycle management.
  • Develop metrics, dashboards, and analyses to measure data completeness, asset health, maintenance performance, lifecycle risk, and progress against improvement plans.
  • Partner with Construction, Engineering, Facilities Operations, Facility Area Managers, maintenance teams, site personnel, and service providers to validate asset records and apply corporate standards in the field.
  • Clarify ownership, roles, and decision rights across Construction, Facilities Operations, production operations, Finance, and external suppliers or service providers.
  • Strengthen the transition from construction and installation to operations by defining required asset information, documentation, acceptance criteria, and handoff practices.
  • Evaluate preventive, corrective, and emergency work-order practices and failure coding to improve asset history, reliability analysis, and lifecycle decisions.
  • Represent ICC/Facilities in cross-functional asset-management forums and serve as a point of contact for facility asset lifecycle matters.
  • Partner with technical subject-matter experts to develop preventive-maintenance strategies and asset-health measures for facility asset classes such as HVAC, power distribution, water and wastewater systems, and roofing.
  • Define condition-assessment methods to evaluate asset risk, criticality, remaining useful life, and replacement needs.
  • Analyze maintenance compliance, breakdown trends, failure data, and asset performance; recommend corrective actions to improve reliability and reduce unplanned downtime.
  • Translate asset condition, risk, performance, and remaining-useful-life information into inputs for long-term facility sustainment and investment planning.
  • Support prioritization and scoping of repair, refurbishment, and replacement projects using consistent asset-health and risk measures.
  • Provide traceable asset information and documented assumptions to support leadership decisions, Finance collaboration, and audit readiness.
  • Lead change-management activities for facility asset standards, classification structures, data requirements, and lifecycle processes across multiple sites.
  • Develop and deliver practical training for Facility Area Managers, maintenance teams, site personnel, and service providers on lifecycle processes, data standards, and enterprise asset-management tools.
  • Facilitate forums and communities of practice to share lessons learned, address adoption barriers, and sustain consistent execution.
  • Serve as a resource and mentor to colleagues building capability in facility asset management, data governance, reliability, and enterprise asset-management practices.
