About The Position

Be part of a team responsible for the mechanical design and analysis of gears, bearings, seals, and lubrication systems in power system and gas turbine engine applications within Honeywell Aerospace Engines and Power Systems. You will support currently fielded products and contribute towards development of new products for a variety of turbofan, turboshaft and auxiliary power unit (APU) applications. You will apply principles of design, physics, mathematics and software development to perform a broad variety of engineering tasks. You will contribute to continuous improvement of design, analysis and simulation methods.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics
  • Minimum 6 years’ experience in mechanical design and analysis of aerospace components
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience working with Mechanical Systems including gears, bearings, seals, and Lubrication Systems

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced understanding and application of disciplines in high speed machinery for one or more of these areas: Bearings, Gears & splines, Air & oil seals, and Lubrication systems
  • Familiarity with bearing analysis methodologies and software such as ABMA, A.B Jones, ADORE, or Romax
  • Ability to interpret detailed part drawings, including an understanding of GD&T practices
  • Familiarity with mechanical component rig testing
  • Familiarity with mechanical systems for gas turbine engines
  • Under minimal supervision, ensure that tasks are appropriately defined, supported and achieved in a timely manner
  • Ability to juggle many priorities and competing demands easily and effectively
  • A PhD or M.S. in aerospace or mechanical engineering

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a subject matter expert to independently complete design & analysis tasks for Bearings within engines and power system applications.
  • Execute life analysis, fit analysis, and clearance analysis for bearings
  • Determine appropriate bearing configuration for turbine engine and motor/generator applications
  • Generate documentation capturing engineering results and findings following design, simulation, analysis, and test activities
  • Support testing of components and engine modules in various lifecycle stages (rig, development, production) and perform data reduction/analysis on test data
  • Support technical mentoring, process/tool improvement and knowledge capture efforts
  • Lead activities related to design and analysis of Mechanical Systems in engines and power system applications
  • Coordinate day-to-day activities of 1-2 individual contributors on a given project.
  • Provide technical oversight and decision making.
  • Assure Mechanical Systems architectural decisions meet program requirements.
  • Oversee generation and presentation of engineering artifacts such as technical design reviews or reports to satisfy program deliverables.
  • Provide resource estimates and task definition on a quarterly basis to support program planning.
  • Lead proposal activities supporting various commercial and military customers.
