About The Position

Senior Accounting Consultants are seasoned, subject matter experts who apply specialized knowledge in matters that require special interpretation or expertise. Incumbents use their discipline-specific and/or institutional knowledge to perform Corporate Accounting and Reporting department activities. They participate in and/or lead critical, high-risk, complex initiatives, programs and projects, have frequent contact with internal and external business partners, facilitate/ influence strategic thinking and direction and influence peers and leaders across the organization to act on issues that have organization-wide impact. The Senior Accounting Consultant in this role may specialize in accounting topics such as joint ventures, leases, member rewards, capitalized software, Statutory accounting and reporting requirements, or other topics as assigned. However, the team members must be flexible as assignments are reallocated based on growth and business needs.

Requirements

  • 6+ years related work experience.
  • Experience in Financial Reporting
  • Experience with financial systems applications to include General ledger
  • communication/negotiation skills
  • Proven analytical skills
  • Must be a team player with the ability to be self-motivated
  • Results oriented
  • Experience in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Bachelor's degree required Accounting or Finance

Responsibilities

  • Reviews team members’ accounting and financial reporting work product including reconciliations, manual journal entries with related analyses on both the GAAP and Statutory bases of accounting, Statutory exhibits and schedules, and financial statement footnotes for monthly, quarterly, and annual filings.
  • Works with mid- and upper-management leaders internal to the organization to facilitate monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting in accordance with standard accounting practices and company policy.
  • Provides subject matter expertise, consultation and integration activities for various financial processes working with senior leaders internal and external to the organization.
  • Acts as a business lead on a variety of business/process improvements, process and organization redesign, and system development initiatives ensuring operational and financial controls and service goals are consistent with corporate direction and financial standards and/or regulations.
  • Facilitates creative/innovative thinking with finance leadership and business partners to generate solutions and decision-making for business issues/problems, and/or recommendations.
  • Utilizes continuous improvement methodologies to realize administrative and process improvement outcomes.
  • Provides leadership, direction, coaching and input to affect positive change for workgroups and/or business partners as well as to accounting team members.
  • Supports internal/external audits by providing thorough documentation of accounting position and analysis.
