About The Position

PhRMA is seeking an intern to support its Advocacy & Strategic Alliances department at its Washington, DC, headquarters. The intern will assist members of the Alliance team and collaborate with other departments. The Alliance team develops strategic campaigns, programs, and alliances with external stakeholders and works across PhRMA’s advocacy divisions to align external and public affairs activities with short- and long-term legislative priorities. Its activities include constituency and third-party relationship building, as well as state, federal, and international issues management and coordination. This is a paid internship running January 19, 2027, through April 16, 2027. The intern will work up to 25 hours per week for a three-month term. The potential pay range is $25 to $35 per hour, based on degree-program level. Responsibilities may change, and additional duties may be assigned.

Requirements

Be a current undergraduate or graduate student in public policy, public health, political science, government affairs, legislative affairs, economics, or communications.
Have an interest in health/life sciences policy and politics.
Be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
Have exceptional organizational and project management skills.
Have a strong desire to build relationships and collaborate.
Have excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to strategically and creatively process information.
Be curious and stay abreast of current industry trends.
Be able to manage and complete projects end to end in a timely manner.

Responsibilities

Research and track legislative and political activity.
Support meetings, including gathering and assembling information.
Research legislation, policy issues, and proposals.
Help develop and edit PowerPoint presentations, talking points, and other background materials.
Attend educational events and briefings.
Perform other duties as assigned.
