About The Position

J/PR is a global communications firm specializing in public relations, content creation, and social media, working with prominent hotels, resorts, and lifestyle brands. Our affiliate agency, 20Two Studio, focuses on bold storytelling for lifestyle brands in the travel, hospitality, and wellness industries. The student internship program is a hybrid learning and mentorship experience designed to immerse students in the PR and social media marketing industry. Interns will gain exposure to strategy, research, media engagement, influencer relations, client brainstorming, community management, creative writing, and professional networking. This program requires reliability, foundational knowledge in PR/media studies or digital marketing, and a passion for the travel, hospitality, and lifestyle industries. Interns may be placed with either J/PR or 20Two Studio.

Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in a relevant college/university program to receive academic credit for the internship.
  • Upperclassman (junior or senior) standing.
  • Must be able to commute to one of our primary US offices (Los Angeles, CA; San Diego, CA; Denver, CO; Nashville, TN; or New York City, NY) for the duration of the internship.
  • Complete a 16-hour training program at the start of the internship.
  • Commit to a regular, in-office weekly schedule according to these guidelines (16 hours/week, Fridays remote).
  • Proficiency in computer programs, including: Google Drive (Docs, Sheets, Slides), Word, PowerPoint, and Excel in a Mac OS environment.
  • Experience with AP writing style.
  • Foundational understanding of media landscape/journalism and/or social media marketing.
  • Self-starter, ability to work independently in a hybrid environment.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Critical thinking skills - must be able to identify and resolve problems using training resources.
  • Applicants for employment must possess work authorization for the country in which they are applying, which does not require sponsorship by the employer for a visa.

  • Previous intern experience with PR or social media is beneficial but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in research on upcoming trends, articles, and social media relating to the travel/hospitality industry and PR clients.
  • Assist with reporting and gathering information to develop efficient pitches.
  • Assist with writing press materials (e.g., fact sheets, media lists, press releases, newsletters, bios/backgrounders).
  • Assist in brainstorming and planning sessions for story angles and partnerships.
  • Assist with data input for weekly reporting/client updates.
  • Learn and demonstrate basic understanding of Barcelona Principles scoring with oversight.
  • Learn and navigate Muck Rack for the development of quality media lists.
  • Learn and navigate Meltwater for reporting and share-of-voice (SOV) analysis.
  • Assist in research on upcoming trends, articles, and social media relating to the travel/hospitality industry & social media clients.
  • Learn and gain a basic understanding of Tagger (Sprout Social) for influencer analysis.
  • Provide administrative assistance with media and influencer relations (writing, research, backgrounders).
  • Assist with Instagram story creation for assigned clients on Canva.
  • Research and pull imagery requests, photo needs, content calendar requests, and influencer relations information.
  • Research models/influencers for content shoots.
  • Assist with the digital filing within content archives for each client.
  • Source UGC for mockups during the community management process.
  • Other tasks or projects as assigned by manager and account team members.
