About The Position

Burrtec is hiring a Spotter at its Agua Mansa Material Recovery Facility (MRF). The role coordinates traffic control for the Material Recovery Facility and Transfer Station, directs and spots customer vehicles, checks loads, and engages with customers. The listed salary range is $23.25 to $25.00 per hour.

Requirements

Good judgment and ability to recognize equipment problems.
Ability to communicate in English and Spanish.
Previous customer service experience.
Valid California Driver's License and clean driving record.

Responsibilities

Provide traffic control at the Transfer Station, Green Waste, Construction & Demolition, and Material Recovery Facility.
Direct incoming vehicles to wait in the metering area until an unloading space is available.
Direct vehicles to remove tarps and back into unloading spaces.
Ensure customers follow Tip Floor Rules.
Provide traffic direction during vehicle accidents, breakdowns, or special projects requiring additional direction.
Monitor vehicle and equipment movement to protect self and others, and communicate with other traffic spotters, Equipment Operators, the Scale House, and Supervision.
Answer customer questions about facility services, rules, fees, and acceptable waste types while providing a high level of customer service.
Monitor incoming loads for hazardous waste or other unsafe conditions.
Inspect recyclable loads for recovery and residue percentages.
Stop operations if an unsafe condition arises.
Follow safe work practices and adhere to safety rules.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
