About The Position

The Sports Official is responsible for officiating youth sports in accordance with YMCA goals and objectives. The role involves building positive relationships with participants, parents, coaches, and fellow officials, and helping ensure games are safe and follow YMCA policies and procedures. Work may take place indoors or outdoors.

Requirements

Be at least 18 years of age.
Have a minimum of two years of sports officiating experience.
Possess advanced knowledge of the sport.
Display appropriate maturity and the ability to relate to people of all ages and ability levels.
Have excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
Obtain and maintain all additional new-hire certifications and training within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

Officiate youth sports in accordance with YMCA of the USA Youth Sports policies and procedures.
Build relationships with participants, parents, coaches, and officials.
Maintain a safe sports environment.
Ensure non-participants do not interfere with game play or team members’ participation.
Conduct a coaches’ meeting before each game.
Ensure compliance with YMCA of Greater Brandywine policies and standard operating procedures.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
