About The Position

The Senior level Sports Officials maintain a broader, deeper understanding of the sport being officiated.

Requirements

• Expertise in the specific sports program rules and interpretations; thorough knowledge of city and department policies.
• Demonstrated skill in the operation of equipment necessary to perform the functions of the job.
• Ability to enforce rules and regulations firmly, tactfully and impartially; control large groups of people; follow written and verbal instructions; remain current rules of specific sports; communicate effectively to the participants; to analyze situations quickly and objectively and to determine proper course of action to be taken; to work with little or no supervision, as necessary; analyze and assess facility, equipment and weather safety hazards; write incident and accident reports, as necessary; learn and adhere to the facility emergency procedures; to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public.
• Must hold current CPR/AED certification.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for enforcing rules and regulations firmly, tactfully and impartially; analyze situations and facts quickly and objectively to determine proper course of action to be taken.
• Monitors participants and their ability to participate; monitors attire to properly perform, (i.e., shoes, equipment, etc.) if applicable.
• Provides a safe environment for all participants; enforces all general building policies if applicable; completes any necessary reports and forms (i.e., Accident/Incident Reports, Attendance Records, Supply Requests, etc.).
• Responsible for preparation of program activities; organizing related equipment; may be required to set up and break-down materials used for instruction.
• Attend scheduled meetings as required; makes supervisor aware of any customer, equipment, or facility needs.
• Ensures that the goals of objectives of the activity are met.
• Provides excellent customer service, including interacting with participants to answer questions or resolve problems.
• Performs related duties as required.
