About The Position

The Sports Official (Flag/Soccer/Basketball) holds responsibility to officiate youth sports in accordance with YMCA goals and objectives. The YMCA of Greater Brandywine (YGBW) was named a 2026 Top Workplace by The Philadelphia Inquirer for the third consecutive year. Requirements

• 18 years of age or older
• Minimum of two (2) years officiating sports
• Possesses advanced knowledge of the sport
• Display appropriate maturity level and ability to relate to all ages and ability levels
• Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills
• Obtain and maintain all additional new hire certifications and trainings within 90 days of hire

Nice To Haves

• HS diploma/GED preferred

Responsibilities

• Act in accordance with YMCA of the USA Youth Sports policies and procedures at all times.
• Build relationships with participants, parents, coaches, and officials.
• Maintain a safe sports environment at all times.
• Make sure that non-participants are not interfering with game play or participation of team members.
• Conduct a coaches’ meeting before each game.
• Ensures compliance with all YGBW policies and standard operating procedures.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
