About The Position

The Sports Monitor monitors YMCA sports programs under the direction of the Sports Director or Coordinator. The role includes opening and closing sites, helping ensure the safety of participants and spectators, and maintaining site cleanliness. This position does not provide sports instruction. Duties are performed in accordance with Metropolitan Atlanta YMCA policies, mission, values, safety protocols, member-service guidelines, and branch objectives, with emphasis on member service, program knowledge, safety, and communication.

Requirements

Meet the minimum age requirement of 16 years old.
Be able to independently travel to the branch, gym, or fields for scheduled shifts.
Have strong interpersonal communication, conflict-management, and customer-service skills to tactfully enforce rules and regulations.
Maintain branch and association certifications in CPR/AED, state-approved First Aid, new staff orientation, branch orientation, and emergency procedures.
Pass a pre-employment background check, including criminal-record check, drug screening, motor-vehicle-record check, and reference check, according to company policy.
Be legally eligible to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.

Responsibilities

Closely supervise activities to support the health, safety, and well-being of children in the program.
Monitor sports practices, clinics, games, and open play.
Set up, monitor, maintain, and secure supplies, equipment, and buildings.
Help ensure facilities are clean and safe.
Report problems to a supervisor.
Answer inquiries from participants, parents, volunteers, and other stakeholders, providing information or finding answers in a timely manner.
Open and close facilities on evenings, weekends, or as needed.
Follow YMCA policies, goals, mission, values, objectives, branch strategic plans, safety protocols, member-services guidelines, and non-negotiables.
Implement YMCA safety protocols for branch and off-site operations.
Respond to safety and emergency situations and maintain and report accurate incident and accident forms.
