About The Position

The Sports Instructor leads youth sports programs in a safe, fun, and positive environment. The role helps youth develop athletic skills, teamwork, confidence, and sportsmanship while creating a welcoming experience for participants and families. The position requires availability Monday through Friday after 4:00 p.m. and on Saturdays to support class coverage; the final schedule will be determined later and will include hours within these timeframes.

Requirements

• Strong communication, organization, and group management skills.
• Dependable and flexible, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to commit to the full program year and maintain consistent attendance.
• Availability Monday through Friday after 4:00 p.m. and Saturdays.

• Experience working with children in sports, recreation, coaching, or related programs.

Responsibilities

• Lead engaging youth sports classes and activities.
• Promote a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment.
• Build positive relationships with participants, parents, and staff.
• Maintain accurate attendance and timekeeping records.
• Help keep program areas clean, organized, and safe.
• Follow YMCA policies, procedures, and emergency protocols.
• Adhere to policies related to boundaries with youth.
• Attend required abuse risk management training.
• Follow procedures for managing high-risk activities and supervising youth.
• Report suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations.
• Follow mandated abuse reporting requirements.
