About The Position

The Sports Instructor | Sports Official plays a critical role in promoting physical fitness, sportsmanship, and fair play within various athletic programs and competitions across the United States. This position is responsible for instructing athletes of all ages and skill levels, ensuring they develop proper techniques, understand game rules, and maintain safety standards. Additionally, as a Sports Official, the individual will oversee sporting events to enforce rules impartially, make real-time decisions, and resolve disputes to uphold the integrity of the sport. The role requires a balance of teaching, mentoring, and authoritative decision-making to foster a positive and competitive environment. Ultimately, the Sports Instructor | Sports Official contributes to the growth of athletes and the smooth operation of sports events, enhancing community engagement and athletic excellence.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Certification or formal training in sports instruction or officiating relevant to the sport(s) involved.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the rules and regulations of the sport(s) officiated.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain physical fitness to perform instructional and officiating duties.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate or bachelor's degree in physical education, sports science, or a related field.
  • Advanced officiating certifications from recognized sports governing bodies.
  • Experience coaching or instructing athletes at various competitive levels.
  • First aid and CPR certification.
  • Proven ability to manage high-pressure situations and make quick, fair decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver structured training sessions tailored to the skill levels and goals of athletes.
  • Teach fundamental and advanced techniques, rules, and strategies of various sports.
  • Monitor athlete progress and provide constructive feedback to encourage improvement and confidence.
  • Officiate sports competitions by enforcing rules, making impartial calls, and managing game flow.
  • Ensure safety protocols are followed during training and competitions to prevent injuries.
  • Collaborate with coaches, parents, and sports organizations to coordinate schedules and events.
  • Maintain accurate records of athlete attendance, performance, and competition results.
  • Stay updated on the latest rules, regulations, and best practices within the sports officiating community.
