About The Position

The Washburn University Athletics Department is seeking applications for a 10-month temporary position in Sports Information. Washburn University is a public institution in Topeka, Kansas, with a history of success in NCAA Division II athletics. The successful candidate will work approximately 20 hours per week, with required weekend and evening work, and is expected to commit to the full 10-month term.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in sports management, journalism, communications, or related field.
  • Proven effective writing and editing skills.
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Demonstrated general sports knowledge.
  • A proven understanding of StatCrew programs and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, lnDesign, etc.), and social media.
  • Driver's license with a driving record acceptable by the University's standards.
  • Background check and driving history are required.

  • NCAA Live Scoring programs experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Athletic Communications Office with coverage of the school's 17 athletic programs.
  • Performs additional job-related duties as assigned or as appropriate.
