About The Position

WRDW-WAGT (Augusta, GA) is hiring a Sports Director who can bring fun swagger on camera, tell unforgettable local sports stories, and make sports memorable for fans and those who "don't watch sports." The role involves running point on WRDW-WAGT Sports coverage across TV, streaming, and social media, anchoring and producing nightly sportscasts, and delivering live coverage with energy and personality. The Sports Director will also generate unscripted streaming content, enterprise hyper-local stories, build coverage plans for bigger projects, and shoot and edit using broadcast cameras and editing equipment. Writing sharp, creative, and conversational scripts and digital copy for all platforms is also a key responsibility. Collaboration with newsroom leaders to keep coverage engaging and timely, and representing the station professionally in the community are also expected.

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of experience as a TV Sports Director or Weekend Sports Anchor/MMJ
• On-camera communication skills, presence, energy, and an ability to hook the viewer who "doesn't watch sports."
• Strong studio anchoring, live reporting, and comfort with unscripted/streaming formats
• Visual storyteller with the ability to plan, shoot, write, and edit compelling stories
• Proven ability to enterprise local sports coverage and local sportscasts
• Ability and desire to plan, execute, and lead both day-to-day sports coverage and larger, multi-element projects
• Knowledge of ENPS is a plus
