About The Position

This position assists in planning, some managing, and implementing of all sports and teens programs and activities. Assists and participates in marketing and special events. Ensures day-to-day program operations are delivered in accordance with operating standards for quality and safety. Assists in interviewing, scheduling and supervising qualified staff. Supports branch leadership in the implementation of the annual campaign.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of related experience working in a youth programing environment
  • Minimum of one (1) year supervisory experience
  • CPR and First Aid certification and Safety training required within 30 days of hire.
  • Within 30 days of hire, completion of YMCA program-specific and Operational trainings.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, adequate speaking, hearing and writing skills appropriate for interacting with both children and adults.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people (children and parents) from all social and economic segments of the community.
  • Knowledge and maturity to observe children’s behavior, assess its appropriateness, enforce appropriate safety practices and emergency procedures, and apply appropriate behavior management techniques.
  • Ability to manage the daily administrative, program-related and supervisory responsibilities of a sports program.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage in all functions associated with the daily care, activities, and routines of program’s children.
  • Excellent personal computer skills and experience with standard business software.
  • Demonstrate commitment to the mission, cause of the YMCA, and uphold its values and ethics.
  • Ability to work effectively work with people of different backgrounds, abilities, opinions and perceptions
  • Willingness and ability to be a mandated reporter for any signs or suspicion of child abuse and neglect. All employees are required to follow the child abuse and neglect reporting process: completion of Suspected Child Abuse/Neglect reporting form, calling children protective services (696-Kids) and notifying your immediate supervisor, branch executive, risk management and human resources department (s).

Responsibilities

  • Ensures programs and services meet community needs to include supervising existing program activities, establishing new program activities.
  • Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information.
  • Builds effective, authentic relationships with children and their parents.
  • Develop and maintain relationship with parents group, other agencies related to program areas.
  • Supervise employees in assigned accountabilities, monitor program operation, scheduling and verify time sheets and actual hours worked.
  • Ensures that YMCA program standards are met and safety procedures are followed at all times, specifically the association’s child protection policies, child abuse and neglect guidelines, and proper reporting procedures.
  • Organizes disinfect and puts away, all program materials.
  • Reports damaged materials and take them out of circulation.
  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of YMCA mission, values, purpose, and goals.
  • Strives for the highest standards of program excellence.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
