About The Position

The Sports Bar Server provides guest service in a fast-paced restaurant environment. The role welcomes guests, takes and enters food and beverage orders, delivers prepared food, checks on guest satisfaction, and handles payments. The server maintains current menu knowledge, makes recommendations and upsells items, and resolves service issues according to established guidelines. Additional duties include helping bus and set tables, cleaning and maintaining designated areas and equipment, completing side work, promoting casino events and programs, and maintaining confidentiality. Work may involve crowded and noisy surroundings, second-hand smoke, and bright lights.

Requirements

• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least one year of experience as a restaurant server.
• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to read, write legibly, understand, and speak English.
• Ability to tolerate second-hand smoke, noise, and bright lights and work at a fast pace in a crowded or noisy environment.
• Must meet professional appearance standards prescribed by company policy.
• Available to work the required schedule, which may include nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
• Regularly required to stand, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms.
• Occasionally required to walk, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and talk or hear.
• Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Follow departmental and property policies and procedures regarding guest service standards.
• Greet and welcome guests seated in the assigned station.
• Take food and beverage orders, deliver prepared food promptly, and periodically check on guest satisfaction.
• Maintain accurate, current menu knowledge, including preparation techniques, seasonings, ingredients, and plate presentation.
• Suggest items based on guest preferences and upsell appetizers, beverages, and desserts in accordance with service standards.
• Enter food and beverage orders correctly into the POS system.
• Resolve service issues according to established guidelines.
• Itemize, total, and present checks to the correct customers.
• Assist bus persons with bussing, cleaning, and setting tables as necessary.
• Clean counter areas, sinks, floors, and designated areas in accordance with health and safety standards.
• Deep clean restaurant equipment as scheduled or required, and operate and maintain equipment according to guidelines and safety procedures.
• Complete assigned side work.
• Know and promote current casino events and programs and provide directions to casino areas.
• Maintain strict confidentiality in all company matters.
