About The Position

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Sports Bar Manager to take full responsibility for the daily operation of our Sports Bar, a high-volume, open-air, casual dining venue serving approximately 200 guests with 28 dedicated bar seats and a centrally positioned bar that serves as the social centerpiece of the venue. The Sports Bar is a premier social gathering location for members, providing an energetic and welcoming environment where members gather to socialize, dine, enjoy daily Happy Hour, and watch sporting events. Sundays, particularly during football season, are among the venue's highest-energy and highest-volume periods, with 16 televisions and full NFL Sunday Ticket coverage. While casual in concept, the Sports Bar operates to the high service and hospitality standards expected by our membership. The Sports Bar Manager will have full operational responsibility for the venue, including service, staff leadership, beverage and dining operations, member satisfaction, financial performance, cleanliness, scheduling coordination, and overall presentation. The ideal candidate is a highly visible and hands-on leader who thrives in a high-volume environment, builds strong relationships with members and employees, and consistently drives a culture of hospitality, accountability, teamwork, and operational excellence.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of supervisory or managerial experience in a high-volume, high-service restaurant, private club, hotel, or similar hospitality environment.
  • Proven ability to manage the complete operation of a high-volume dining and beverage venue.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, team-building, and employee development skills.
  • Strong knowledge of restaurant and bar operations, including beverage service, inventory management, labor management, and financial controls.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage high-volume service while maintaining exceptional hospitality and attention to detail.
  • Strong member/guest service skills with the ability to build meaningful relationships and resolve concerns professionally.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to analyze operating results and use data to make sound staffing and operational decisions.
  • Proficiency with POS and scheduling systems; experience with Jonas preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively with multiple departments and communicate operational needs clearly and professionally.
  • Committed to hospitality, service excellence, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

  • Passion for and knowledge of sports strongly preferred.
  • Experience managing high-volume sporting events, Happy Hours, or similar social dining environments preferred.
  • During the off-season, must be willing to support other dining venues within the Clubhouse as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Assume full responsibility for the daily operation and overall performance of the Sports Bar.
  • Lead, coach, and develop the entire Sports Bar team, maintaining a highly visible and engaged presence on the floor and behind the bar.
  • Ensure consistently exceptional service, hospitality, food and beverage quality, cleanliness, and overall member satisfaction.
  • Establish and maintain the Sports Bar as a premier social gathering location where members feel welcomed, connected, and engaged.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with members by recognizing preferences, anticipating needs, responding to feedback, and resolving concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Take ownership of peak periods, including daily Happy Hours, weekends, major sporting events, and particularly NFL Sundays.
  • Partner closely with the Scheduling Manager to develop staffing plans and ensure appropriate coverage based on anticipated business levels, events, and member activity.
  • Maintain responsibility for labor management, including staffing levels, scheduling needs, productivity, overtime, and adherence to budgeted labor targets.
  • Monitor daily sales, labor, food and beverage costs, comps, voids, discounts, and other key operating metrics to maximize the financial performance of the venue.
  • Oversee all bar operations, including beverage quality, inventory, ordering, par levels, proper product handling, waste control, cleanliness, and responsible alcohol service.
  • Work closely with the Culinary team to ensure proper food quality, presentation, ticket times, menu execution, and communication between the kitchen and front-of-house teams.
  • Ensure the Sports Bar is properly opened, set up, stocked, maintained, and closed each day according to Club standards.
  • Maintain appropriate inventory levels for food, beverage, glassware, china, silverware, paper products, and other operational supplies.
  • Ensure the physical presentation of the Sports Bar consistently meets Club standards, including cleanliness, furniture, bar presentation, televisions, music, lighting, and overall atmosphere.
  • Oversee and support the execution of Happy Hours, sporting events, promotions, member events, and other special programming within the Sports Bar.
  • Conduct daily pre-shift meetings and ongoing training focused on service standards, menu knowledge, beverage offerings, sports programming, member engagement, and operational expectations.
  • Hold team members accountable for performance, attendance, appearance, service standards, and adherence to Club policies and procedures.
  • Participate in recruiting, interviewing, hiring, onboarding, training, performance evaluations, coaching, recognition, and disciplinary processes as appropriate.
  • Work collaboratively with Culinary, Stewarding, Housekeeping, Engineering, Events, Accounting, Membership, and other Club departments to ensure seamless operation and member service.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in the Jonas Management System, including maintaining menus, updating specials, adjusting menu items and pricing, and ensuring system accuracy.
  • Monitor menu accuracy, pricing, product availability, and proper communication of menu changes to the team and members.
  • Ensure proper cash-handling, POS procedures, credit card procedures, comps, voids, discounts, and closing procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with Club policies, health and sanitation standards, responsible alcohol service requirements, and all applicable safety procedures.
  • Monitor member feedback and operating trends and recommend improvements to enhance service, efficiency, revenue, and the overall member experience.
  • Communicate regularly with the Director of Food & Beverage and other leadership regarding business levels, staffing, member feedback, operational challenges, financial performance, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Support other Club dining venues during the off-season or as operational needs require.
