About The Position

The Sports & Events Coordinator will assist with supporting sports programs and events throughout the year. This position will assist with weeknight and weekend sports activities, including tourism events as needed; provide information and assistance regarding program guidelines and policies; and enforce applicable rules and regulations. The position will also help maintain attendance reports, activity logs, incident/accident reports, and related records. This position is essential to the overall operation of the Sports & Events Division. Scheduling and working with the public, leagues, associations, sports partners, program users, and seasonal staff helps support the overall success of sports programs throughout Chesterfield County. Success requires excellent communication skills to work effectively with staff, local sports partners, associations, program users, and the public; strong organizational and time-management skills to effectively manage priorities and meet deadlines; an understanding of athletics and the use of fields and facilities; and proficiency with computer software and office equipment. Perform other work as required. We are looking for someone who can walk in on their first day ready to learn, ask questions, take the lead in understanding our organization’s operations, and begin building relationships. That said, we will always support you and provide guidance, but there is an expectation that you can work quickly and independently, take ownership of assignments, and help lead staff to get things done. We are a small team with high expectations to deliver exceptional results. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED; two years of college coursework and/or related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • A current, valid driver’s license and good driving record are required.
  • Driving records must not reflect a total of six or more demerit points within the twenty-four months preceding the anticipated hire date, or one major violation of six demerit points within the preceding thirty-six months.
  • Out-of-state driving records must be obtained by applicant and presented at the time of interview.
  • Records must reflect at least three years of history and be dated within thirty days of the interview date.
  • Pre-employment drug testing, an FBI criminal background check, and education/degree verification are required.
  • Excellent communication skills to work effectively with staff, local sports partners, associations, program users, and the public.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills to effectively manage priorities and meet deadlines.
  • An understanding of athletics and the use of fields and facilities.
  • Proficiency with computer software and office equipment.
