About The Position

This position functions as an Industry Budget Analyst within the Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP), supporting the startup and activation of industry-sponsored clinical research studies across Corewell Health. The Industry Budget Analyst serves as a strategic partner to investigators, research teams, sponsors, contract research organizations (CROs), Research Development, Research Finance, Billing Integrity, and ancillary departments to ensure studies are financially feasible, operationally sustainable, and compliant with institutional requirements.

  • Bachelor's Degree related field
  • 2 years of relevant experience in related field

Responsibilities

  • Review clinical trial protocols, schedules of events, informed consent documents, and study-related materials to assess operational and financial impact.
  • Develop, review, and reconcile Coverage Analyses to determine research-related versus routine care activities and support compliant research billing practices.
  • Translate Coverage Analyses into sponsor budget templates and negotiate budgets directly with sponsors and CROs.
  • Evaluate study financials to identify hidden costs, resource requirements, and operational considerations that may affect study sustainability.
  • Negotiate study startup fees, per-patient reimbursement, invoiceable services, pass-through expenses, and other budget-related terms.
  • Collaborate with Clinical Research Operations, Research Development, Research Finance, Billing Integrity, Information Security, Information Governance, and ancillary departments throughout the study startup process.
  • Manage amendments requiring budget revisions, protocol changes, coverage analysis updates, and sponsor budget renegotiation.
  • Perform final reconciliation of protocol, informed consent, coverage analysis, budget, and contractual documents to ensure consistency before study activation.
  • Participate in investigator, sponsor, and internal meetings to facilitate study startup and resolve operational or financial barriers.
  • Maintain project timelines while managing a high-volume portfolio of active studies and amendments.
