About The Position

The Splicer/Cable Splicer Helper assists operations with materials, hand tools, and equipment used in the installation and maintenance of cables and the underground system. The work is performed indoors and outdoors, sometimes in adverse weather, for extended periods as required. During trouble-call assignments, the employee must be able to report to the reporting base within approximately one-half hour. The successful candidate must complete Splicer T.M.P. Training Merit Progression requirements and qualify as a Splicer at the end of the training period. Emergency restoration assignments may require assistance during emergencies outside normal responsibilities, working hours, or location.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to pass the Construction and Skilled Trades Test (CAST) and physical agility assessment.
• Valid driver's license and ability to obtain and/or maintain a valid CDL within six months.
• Mechanical/technical experience.
• Ability to complete Splicer T.M.P. Training Merit Progression requirements and qualify as a Splicer at the end of the training period.
• Ability to work emergency and planned overtime when needed.
• Work history demonstrating safe work habits.

Nice To Haves

• Candidates who currently hold a CDL-A are preferred.
• Splicing experience is preferred.

Responsibilities
