About The Position

National Grid is seeking a Cable Splicer Helper for an opening in North Syracuse. The role supports Underground Electric Operations in providing safe and efficient electric service and in installing and maintaining underground electric assets. Under direct supervision as part of a cable crew, the helper handles materials, tools, and tackle, performs required manual work, and assists Cable Splicers. The position offers a starting wage of $33.56 per hour and benefits including medical, dental, life insurance, a 401(k) plan, vacation, and tuition assistance. With satisfactory performance and continued training, employees can progress through the Cable Splicer series; after six months of satisfactory performance, the employee progresses to Cable Splicer A. The position is subject to applicable collective bargaining agreements and federal DOT drug and alcohol safety regulations. Visa sponsorship is not available.

Requirements

• Pass a physical abilities examination.
• Pass a validated aptitude test.
• Have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Have a valid driver's license and a safe driving history that meets National Grid's Safe Driver policy.
• Be able to work without current or future visa sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

• Class A CDL preferred.
• Possess a two-year degree or certificate in Electrical Technology, Mechanical Technology, or Electric Construction/Maintenance from an accredited college or university, or an equivalent qualification as determined by management.

Responsibilities
